USS strangeness.

1) What happened to weapons fire detected USSes?

2) All Distress calls are zero threat?

3) Why are all Combat aftermath USSes these mini-scenarios? These used to be the primary source of G3 and G4 materials, we need them back please.

4) Is it intended that when accepting a pirate massacre mission, you go to the target system, get the mission USS and that USS is permanent until mission completion? This is very odd. Because this is how it always plays out for me... I drop in, shoot 5 or 6 targets, by then the rest have left. No more targets, go back out to supercruise, oh, there's my missoin USS again, right where it was. I drop in. Are there any targets this time? No. No problem, I'll just go back to SC, my USS will still be there and I can try again, sure enough, oh yes, 7 or 8 more targets, lovely. Where were they a minute ago? And why don't they care that I'm shooting up their chums?

5) Why do degraded emissions usually have a threat level now, yet no enemies?

6) I cannot scan the data beacon in encoded emissions in any mode. It has a really weird reticule when targeted, several kilometers wide.

I've been doing a bunch of pirate massacre missions since update and the uss they spawn are indeed persistent, the type of instance is tied to the threat level it seems
So if you find a uss you like you can loop around and farm them, though oddly it seem the ships that spawn are not always the right faction, still wanted but not mission targets.
And in one case i had an anaconda jump out with 13% hull, i followed it killed it and got about 300k credits for it.
But i noticed it had left a high wake so i jump into that wake and theres that anaconda again with 13% hull but this time with half shields up, i kill it, about 500k credits and another wake !
The final time the anaconda was worth 699k credits!
I've noticed on 2 separate occasions a corvette and anaconda leave a "death wake" but they dissipated before i could persue because i noticed them too late

Indeed. And they are much tougher than they used to be, not just equipment, but AI too.

I've noticed the Combat Aftermath USS's being kinda useless for materials since the patch. And threat levels are kinda all over the place compared to what they were.

Also weird just now i dropped into a high grade emission and sent out limpets upon their return i discovered that my cargo hatch and srv bay were disabled
A few minutes later at a station i wanted to discard the limpets so i could check out th me iridescent gleam livery for the vulture and once again my cargo hatch and srv bay were disabled

I've probably jumped into 75 distress calls and all of them were empty.. I've noticed earlier they only had a few ships just flying for a while and when you wait long enough they jumped away.. As long as I didn't attack nothing happened, no message of a distressed ship.. This started when the recent Beta was launched.. But I play on Xbox, so I don't see why this could bd related to each other.. And since chapter 4 is released they are completely empty..

Just saw an L2 Distress two minutes ago, but didn't head in because it was from a faction that just horked control of a station from my own faction, so eff them.

Sorry for the necro, but I was searching for USS issues. I now have had three separate instances over the last couple of weeks where I drop into a USS that has a disabled Annie (I think they were Encoded Emissions Threat 2 or 3, just do not remember). A mission pops up and the voice comes over asking you to use your data scanner to scan the data beacon on board the ship to retrieve data and gives you an option to accept it. I accept it, but there is no way to scan the data beacon aboard the ship. You can try targeting in your contacts panel, ram into the ship to get as close as possible, but nothing works.

Nah, I've only tried the HGEs and they're just not worth the hassle with the current system. Personally I don't see any reason to jump into another type of signal source.

On a side note, if you want some G3/G4s, jump into a low intensity CZ. Plenty of drops from bigger ships and almost zero aggro from the opposing faction (and no elite squads, etc.). If the instance is a bit lacking on bigger ships, just relog.

I had one of these....I dropped in found the Annie before the mission scanned it ....then accepted the mission and ......the scan I already had was ignored and I couldn't re scan had to drop it.

USSs are pretty broken from what I have experienced.

I dropped into the one HGE I found after an hour of looking in high pop boom state systems last night to find....nothing, zip, zilch, nadda

And yes I've had the same encoded emissions bug with not being able to scan the data point...although the target lock was normal

TBH nothing would surprise me with the current state of USSs.

I'm also particularly enjoying the wall of silence coming from FDev on this topic despite numerous posts and requests for clarification, perhaps they are having a really good laugh whilst totting up the number of player hours wasted trying to find a pharma isolator.

Suppose I should update that the vast majority of the issues mentioned in the OP are fixed now, but various strangeness is still going in in various scenarios, Combat aftermath is still no longer a sources of mats, just buggy scenarios. Mission detected usses now move about (why did I ask for that? lol), but are still illogical in terms of their content (a singularity seems to just GIVE BIRTH to 9 or so ships at the same time which then roam freely into space as new born cannon fodder). Pirate faragut encounters are still buggy (although I haven't tried lately, anyone else?), HGE spawns are still random, and the materials they contain do not always relate to the state of the HGE, CZs are still frequently empty, although this has got much better recently. Um...

Can't think of anything else right now...

Without any response from Fdev on the state of USSs and whether we can expect any sort of fix/adjustment in the near future I actually resorted to running missions just to get G5 mats to trade for what I need at a ridiculous exchange rate.

TBH I've sort of given up on it as well...

The 7 stages of USS emotions

Hope
Confusion
Frustration
Anger
Resignation
Apathy
Play something else

I'm at the apathy stage and can feel the onset of the final stage beckoning.
