I'm used to the verbage of a CG's reward section being prefaced by: "If successful, " (ei: T1 is reached), but it's been missing for a good while now.

To bad... why not changing the conditions for the skin to deliver it to a smaller number of participants, if T1 is not reached (Top 25% or Top 10%). To punish even the "try hards" seems to be the wrong message in my opinion and if Utopia is giving out this, why should they not pay their loyals.
Simple: Rewards. In the last CG you had AX pilots who don't particularly like to haul, but wanted those cargo racks. With this one you only get the players either wanting the paintjob, those who actually care for the goal itself from a roleplay perspective and those who simply enjoy the activity.the last community goal didnt get a ton of participation but it seems like this one is going even slower...how come?

top 10% in both but looks like I won't be cashing in any reward. Thought I would at least get a rarer pj but note someone in the forums said it was up for sale prior to the CG. Anyone know if that's true? Bit blah if the pj wasn't even a bit special. Not for all those encoded mats I might have wasted. Hauling is not my activity of choice. I think I'd rather have been looking for Raxxla.

The hauling CG is on track to reach tier 1, PJ secured for all who want it.
Current averages look like it's on track for about 19MT, so an above average final day could still put it across the line. I'd say "narrowly misses out" is much more likely but it's still too close to call for certain.
"About 20MT" is fairly normal participation for recent trade CGs without particularly desirable rewards. Participant numbers are normal, tonnage per participant is normal, it's just that Tier 1 is set unusually high.
I'd say it will get T1 - got around 2.7M yesterday and it only needs another 3M. Should get a boost as it gets close to T1. It will be funny either way

For a 1-week trade CG taking place in the bubble with "normal" cargo (that's a lot of conditions!) the top 50% threshold is almost always in the 4000-6000t region nowadays (it used to be lower a few years back, for various reasons), so Frontier could say "deliver 5000t for the reward" with little change in practice.
The one constant : people always want the game to not be what it is. And when it changes they don't want that either
