PvP Viable missile ship for pvp?

Im gettting back into the pvp oriented aspects of this game and i was wondering if any ships pair well with missiles and or pack hound missiles?

For ganking, missiles are good, but for actual PvP, they're a utility at best and a waste of a hardpoint at worst.

Missiles definitely have utility against hybrid setups, but making a ship that focuses on them won't leave you with anything to cut through shields and will be too ammo limited.

As for ships that go well with missiles, something fast that can control distance and/or small enough to evade enough TLB fire to keep a lock will be beneficial.

I run a high cap seeker rack on my iEagle, because 20+ missiles on a single small hardpoint almost makes it worth losing some overall DPS.

Strong against other small ships, or a solo Fed medium. Bump the shields off and fire away. The small ones usually pop, and the fed ships won't have any guns to shoot you with, so you can just chip away at them.

Better for wing stuff, disabling drives/modules when your guys drop someone's shields.

I engineered some dumb fire racks the other day-- 47 missiles per lol. I'm excited to try them out.

Missiles, especially pack hounds, can make most of hulltank users, like almost of all FAS users, to think twice before they would want interdict someone's equiped with or even refuse to fight with it, at some cases. Just 2-3 missiles or hounds salvos from single rack are enough, to kill most of modules on utility slots, like chaff or boosters, if such are being directly hit with. Also they can force well-skilled cmdrs to take evasive actions against them, or atleast change thier way of approach, wich can create opening to fire back or get better position. Lastly, they can kill thrusters and weapons really well, if lots of missiles does reach opponent hull, even if such are not being sub-taget by missile user.

Because of reasons above, missiles are known "hard-counter" to most of hull tank bulids if in right hands. Only counter for it are TLB as this can break lock-on or silent running if there is no emmisive along. Of course some of pvp crowd will see them as "poison" or "cancer" but lets get real, they just hate anything that can posse a threat to their bulids of choice. [yesnod]

Against well-shielded ships, like big ones or prisma HD stack FDL's, missiles are waste of hardpoint, as missiles are only good to killing certain exposed modules or weapons, rather being source of DPS.

Missiles, preferably dumbfire ones, are insanely useful in PvP when in wing. By yourself, instant death sentence (you haven't got a snowball's chance in hell of taking down someone's shields with them) but in a wing, as anti-hull, they work superb. 4 Rapid-Fire Super Penetrator racks and a Huge High Yield Cannon on an FDL works very well as a sole hull-stripper.

Depending on your opponent either click-to-win or absolutely useless.

Emissive packhounds will strip a hull/hybrid tank of its weapons very quickly. Against a strong shield tank or anything fast and piloted by a competent pilot, you may as well have not brought them.

Oh! Tell me more! I'm incompetent!

Do you find pointing your ship in an approximate direction of your target, waiting 5 sec and pressing one button requires skill?

If you have a rapid fire mod on them, you keep on holding that fire button and fire 5 missiles from each hardpoint, around 10 of them is all that is required to make hybrid builds useless (destroying hardpoints or sensor).

After you aquire a lock on the target, you dont even need to face it in order to fire the missiles.

Add thermal cascade and premium synth to those and you have a lovely combo.

These things actually make me a bit nervous when docking. If one of these pack hound boats are winged with a station rammer, there isn't much to do really.

Algo, dog, I get it. You fly an FAS, and fighting someone with missiles is a total bummer.

I know your pain all too well, as the FAS is my go-to medium ship for PVP.

Between module reinforcements, TLB plasmas, and clever use of silent running, missiles aren't normally a huge problem for me. There are exceptions of course, a wing of people spamming missiles is never a fun situation to find yourself in.

I use quite a few B rated core modules myself, even B thrusters on occasion. They're crazy durable with a reinforced mod. I have some sturdy mount weapons depending on the loadout as well. Started using bi weaves not too long ago, but I haven't had the chance to try it against someone with missiles.
