They're only $15 usd. Does that mean my dollars are worth 2 of yours?
No, we're special so we get the Australian tax. I think it's to make up for us having beaches for miles and the best looking women playing in them.

I think it's more that we're on the far side of the world from, well, pretty much everywhere. We're used to paying 100% over the cost of an item in shipping costs; that's a very typical shipping rate, from the dozen or so times I've bought off Amazon.

Was he ever an employee?
And Drew never worked for FD.

Drew is, as near as I can figure out, an anti-employee.

Employees are paid by a company to do work for them. Drew paid FD thousands of pounds for permission to write a story set in the FD universe (at least, the going rate for the "writer's pack" back in Kickstarter was £4500 so I assume Drew would have either paid that, or something similar). In exchange, he'd have gotten permission to name one space station, planet and star system and have some say in the composition and layout of that star system, to make the in-game system line up with what was portrayed in his book.

FD would have given Drew a lore-guidebook, presumably the same guidebook that would later be used by the actual game programmers, so that whatever he wrote would not contradict anything FD wanted to carve into lore-stone. Drew's main gripe seems to be around FD changing the goalposts about what was carved in stone, and what was still fluid in terms of lore, as some of the stuff he's written about as being certain (eg. the Thargoids having a civil war between the Oresrian and Kalaxian factions) has now apparently been retconned away.

Just clickbait by the OP.

This is a recycled video posted here a few weeks ago and went on for 15 pages before being closed by a forum moderator.

Moderators should link this to the previous post and if the OP is interested, I included the link above.
Yeah.
Also, Drew was never a Frontier employee, and he destroys nothing in this video.

Can we just stop modelling thread names after tabloid headlines?

Odd that my response in that thread got ninja deleted.
I suppose I should just put it down reasons.
Meanwhile, I'll just make it look like I'm contributing to the conversation by pushing my own content.
Don't forget to like, sub and subscribe!
And for the same content but earlier, and the appearance that I'm reading what you're writing, become a Patreon and gain an arbitrary rank or position assigned by how much you're giving me a month.

Exactly. No point getting sniffy with FDEV about lore changing just find a way to include the new stuff.

Also don't bite the hand that feeds you unless you are OK with them not bothering with you in future.
Combine this with every thread talking about how much someone hates something and we have shut down servers.

But arent the paying customers the ones doing the feeding in money to frontier? It seems more mutually beneficial to give everyone what they want if they want everyones money

So what happens if what the paying customers want is in direct opposition with each other. For example, one player wants PvP to me mandatory, another wants PvP to be removed from the game - which track to FD take to appease everyone? Or those that want Open Only and those that want only an Off-line game? No one can appease everyone, simple as that.

Bad example. Lets be honest, only gankers and griefers demand open only. everyone else is either lying or indifferent. Its their (fdev) own fault they didnt make an open pve and pvp. Offline mode would be great for when they shut the serves down someday but thats the only time it would matter

People have been screaming DOOM every day since pre-release in 2014, probably earlier. It translates as "give me what I want right now if not sooner".

In this case its just using Drew Wagar as a bogeyman to try to frighten FDEV into doing something. It won't work obviously, but if this approach gains enough traction (this isn't the first thread) it could possibly get Drew uninvited from future events and stuff.

The people griping are not paying customers (other than arx maybe), they are paid up customers. New era's marketing release will pull in more paying customers if its timed right, existing customers will probably buy DLC anyway no matter the timing so the marketing doesn't really count there. If its timed wrong hype dies down and there's less sales.

All the "are we there yet" threads are just free advertising for FDEV. Anyone new wandering into the forum wanders off knowing there's an update and DLC on the way.

Make the forums for active players only? I would support this.

Frontier has never really got the 'story' right for ED. Its plain to see that they went traditional at KS using authors and ongoing stories but as times gone on this is not worked out. Pacing has always been an issue, integration and timing off, player confusion (the early days of Powerplay for example had an odd echo chamber effect where players thought Galnet were 'orders').

I can understand Drews frustrations, as its hard seeing stuff being binned or changed quite brazenly- there is huge potential in what has been done but I don't think anyone has found the sweet spot of functionality, sustainability or consistency to enable those KS ideals. Its quite ironic how Elite classically got these things right, its almost as if ED is a victim of its lineage.

I will be interested in seeing how FD view story beats in New Era- we still have codex lore, CG / II as a story container / enabler, the underlying single player training that could be repurposed as 'classic' story missions.
