[Video] Making money : (Diah)Rhea runs 120+ mil/hour

I stand corrected :) So doing a simple unchallenging gameplay, earns only a mediocre amount of CRs.

Personally I find it frustrating so much gameplay after three years is still "valued" by the CRs earned from it. Ie: it's a shame people aren't ploughing the same amount of critique into the depth (or lack of) gameplay we still have.

ie: I'd much rather be undertaking nice involved gameplay mechanics for just a reasonable amount of CRs, that farming vapid gameplay for large amounts of CRs.

After three years, the former is (still) few and far between...

Totally agree :) Have pretty much given up on that by this point though.

That's the worst part. We've been clamouring for more depth, better, more engaging and complex mechanics for three years, but there are really those out there who aren't all that interested in the long term quality of the game: they just want faster unlocks and to skip the whole god damn game.

And then what.. ? Once they realize there's no more content for a game whose base game loops they coerced the devs into letting them skip? Move over to the next release on their Steam list?

Sorry but where is it cheating to use mission staking which is allowed? Using board hoping for better refresh which is awared by FD and tolerated?
Sure using the high paying missions with 30 million or more but normal transport which is around 800k to maybe 2 million? You already need a big ship to be able to earn more and I dont see something wrong in it.

I never gave specifics except to generalize about the rampant nature of exploits for huge profits that seem to consume the play time of most commanders now. So im not getting bogged down in this post with specifics. The tone of my posts throughout most threads on this subject expand on my thoughts and opinions across the board.
As for board hopping the only cheat ive mentioned, it is tolerated by Fdev. I beleive their official statement that using it 'is not in the spirit if the game'. But they do not go so far as to condemn it.

But it is a work around, outside of the game flow to aquire faster and better results for the player. which many could argue is a cheat.

That. And it didn't make me lose motivation at all. On the contrary, I am finally free to do what I want in the game. And I'm on my way to 3000 hours in this game.

This. PVP was finally something I could enjoy in big ships because with over a billion in the bank, I wouldn't be constantly worrying about finances. Being able to experiment with multiple ships and loadouts because money was no longer a grind, enjoying engineering because I didn't have to think about costs....

The grind is both unnecessary and hurtful to the game. I bet thousands if not tens of thousands of players have given up and vocalised negative reviews of the game to their peers because of the needless grind that dilutes the gameplay so much.
I don't even care if newbies get an Anaconda on the same day they log in for the first time. They'll likely lose it just as easily but easy come, easy go. It's the time costs of grinding credits for rebuys and ship unlocks that hurts the player base so much - not everyone can afford to put hundreds of hours into the game, let alone the thousands that many of the forum regulars have....

But if the ships are the only content, can you really blame someone for wanting to try them out in the shortest possible time? As you say, the engaging and complex (deep) game mechanics are largely missing, so wanting to skip the grind and get to the good bits is hardly a daft idea.

(Don't get my wrong, I enjoy quite a few aspects of this game, but the ships are a big part of it, and I'm glad I got a nice credit boost from long range smuggling back in the day to help me reach my goals)

Just to say thanks for the advice earlier. Earned 15mil while learning the ropes of passenger transport from Rhea. It does seem pretty hit and miss as to what passengers are available though. Some runs i make 2 or 3 mill, others barely 1.

Of course I'm probably missing something...

Went to Rhea .. one or two missions to LQ Hydrae .. bad offers .. no thanks, not accepting 125,000 to sit in SC for 15,000ls.. I am a Cmdr with some self-respect. :D So, I moved on .. fun while it lasted though.

I have enough for a Python now; maybe I'll just keep the T7 whilst I shuffle iSlaves between two nearby systems (single-jump) at +-800kcr one way.

How does one skip the game? Afaik there is no progression you choose your role, you pick your ship, you earn money to gain said ship. There is no level up, apart from Elite status which afaik only trading is the wonky one which can be easy mode the other 2 require actually time and effort that people could not skip.

Reading this thread I'm wondering if I'm missing something on Rhea passenger grinding

I've been running my AspX between Rhea and LQ Hydeae mainly with capacity for 48/3 economy /business passengers. I'm making ok money but very rarely over 2m cr in around trip which seems low compared to others.

I figure that building my rep with the factions will improve things but will pledging to a power (federation) help too?

Also I did wonder if a bigger ship (python?) with more passenger capacity would help but I don't typically see enough passengers on offer at Rhea that I think that would generate a lot more income.

So, am I missing something or do I just keep grinding?

TIA

You missed out on the big bucks, it was a bug but good money can still be made. The key is lots of economy cabins and fill er up. So the bigger the ship the better.

Yeah, I see that I missed that - sod's law... ;)

If you can find stations further out from the star carrying bulk passengers the reward still goes up, look for 300ls out for example. It's going to take 10 mins or so but should see a nice reward if you fill lots of cabins. Quite dull gameplay though ;)
