I don't think of my time in-game in such terms. It's an experience, not an investment...I extract enjoyment as I go.
What virtual stop in development is that. How do I defend something that hasn't happened. And no I don't defend FDev with every single post.
What they have said is that the next Era in ED is in full production. Obviously for you that means production has stopped.
As to what that new era is, we will have to wait and see. They will show us when they are ready to. Chapter 4 only came out a few months ago and that was a big update.
I can wait for some news.
Just because they are not showing us stuff doesn't mean they are not working on stuff.
Whether they are or Not, I can only go by what they say.

They addressed that in the community update in 2018. They basically said that the premium content for LEP holders had been delayed.

That's right. We went from LEP holders being "looked after" and "getting their hands on premium content" in Oct. 2017 to being told over a year later in Dec. 2018 that they're getting "festive bobbleheads and paint jobs".
Then FD had the inexplicably bad idea of trying to attribute this as having "100% value" for LEP holders when they said:
Nevermind that the LEP was for paid expansion content, and not cosmetic items, and FD can't actually claim that delivering cosmetic items counts towards the "value" of the LEP. Cosmetic items are not what LEP holders purchased and giving them out and pretending they count as "value" towards the LEP is not just factually incorrect, it's actually insulting to anyone who purchased the LEP in 2015 and waited over year to be told they were getting some bobbleheads and paint jobs.
And you will be getting whatever the next Era of ED will be.
They failed to deliver it and have no ETA for when it might arrive. That is not just "delayed", that is quite simply failing to deliver the content. They told LEP holders in Oct. 2017 that they would be "looked after" with "premium content" before the end of 2018. Then at the end of 2018, over a year later they handed out some "festive bobbleheads and paint jobs" and had the exceptionally poor idea of claiming that LEP holders were getting "100% value" from these items.
That's right, FD not only failed to deliver actual LEP expansion content, they actually tried to claim that the overpriced cosmetic items they handed out counted towards "value" for LEP holders.
I assume here I don't need to explain how terrible that situation is.

Purchasing an online digital product advertised in 2015 in FD's online store is not a "gamble". It's purchasing a product that FD has then deliberately failed to deliver despite taking in over $120 million USD of revenue from the Elite franchise since the game launched in 2014.
Are you suggesting here that LEP holders have been "looked after" like FD claimed they would be back in 2017? Or that purchasing a $180 USD "lifetime expansion pass" and receiving no more actual expansion content than someone who purchased a $45 USD Horizons expansion after over 4 years of "development" isn't a legitimate concern?
I've gone over the most glaring problems with Elite's development history in a prior thread, and that was even before we learned that FD had resorted to handing out bobbleheads instead of actual LEP content:

Of course LEP's are a gamble, you don't know what, when or how much you'll get which leads to some people being happy and others obviously not quite so chipper.
Given you don't like variable outcomes you should avoid them in future.
You can't really expect get away with that. The premium content isn't ready yet.
It's quite simple. LEP holders will get it for free, others will have to pay.
And in this thread you've already had to change your tune once, from claiming there had been nothing from frontier on the topic since the promise of 2018 premium content, to pretending you meant since we were told it wasn't happening so here's some store items in the meantime. Tut tut.

I didn't purchase the LEP. Those who did, however, were not making a "gamble". They were making an online purchase with specific expectations for the advertised content of what they were buying.
Peoples expectations should be realistic, if you didn't buy it why are you sulking ?.
Lifetime Pass Holders did, yes. Devari doesn't have a Lifetime Expansion Pass.
Others will pay considerably less than the LEP holders, unless FD charges $135 USD for whatever "paid content" they deliver which would be ludicrous. LEP holders will be taking a massive loss on their LEP purchase.
I haven't "changed my tune" in any way. I clearly pointed out that LEP holders have received nothing from FD in terms of the premium LEP expansion content that was promised in 2017. That is indisputable and no, bobble heads aren't "premium LEP content".
They have given no ETA or details on the content, they have only stated it's "being developed" which means nothing from them at this point. Until they deliver the content, their vague marketing-speak claims of "a new era" and "exciting content" and similar nonsense is just that, nonsense.
We've seen what FD claims they produced with a "dedicated team of 100 people" working on Elite for Beyond and it was laughable. There is no way that the LEP holders are seeing anything approaching value for their purchase even if FD eventually delivers some buggy, incomplete, minimum viable product expansion content before the end of the expected life of the franchise.
I wouldn't characterize any of the LEP holders who have raised very legitimate concerns on these forums for several years now as "sulking", unless you're suggesting that they are not legitimately entitled to receive an appropriate value for what they had purchased in 2015. FD has failed to develop Elite adequately since the game launched and have thrown LEP holders under the bus in the process, that is something that FD refuses to address because they don't want to put any significant efforts into Elite development at this point.
