Newcomer / Intro View Universal Cartographics while not at a starport?

Is there a way to view the Universal Cartographics that have not been sold while in deep space? i must be missing something obvious.

no, there isn't.

you can work around that with some thrid party tools like ed-discovery.

basically, as long as you haven't sold it, you don't know how much the data you have collected is worth, as that also depends on wheher you are the first one to hand it in.

i can see why Frontier think there is no need to view Cartographics in space, because if you are not selling it why would you want to look at it.
What i often do is take on a couple of missions carrying cargo to a system 80/90 LYs away. Some of those systems en route i would often discover new objects with a scan, but i would wait until i am on the way back to do a detailed surface scan. So i have to revert to pen and paper to plot a course back. Maybe i need to work on my workflow?

There's a filter in the galaxy map for systems you've already visited. You can force the navigation computer to apply that filter to your route. That will help ensure you follow the route back.

This :)

4th tab, filter by colour, visited systems.
Only really helps if you are in a place you haven't been before but can work.

Don't suppose there is an opposite filter (no where near my game PC at the moment), I.e. route via only unknown/unvisited systems? I.e. a method of maximising exploration income while flying from A to B.
