AFAIK, there's no way in Steam VR to configure a hotkey to activate the camera, other than the handheld controller.

Easiest way is to tap the button on the left side of the HMD twice to activate camera, assuming you turned it on in SteamVR settings in the first place.

Virtual KB is the better option, of course.

Oops. I forgot there was a button on the Vive HMD.
