VMX 2.2.2 Dark Edition major update (advanced VA based music system for Elite)

Hi all,
I've recently released a major update to my software VMX available https://darknebula.cloud. If you've not heard of it before, (it was formerly available on gamemusicpacks.com) VMX is a very advanced music system which both myself and Miguel Johnson compose Music Packs for. The Music Packs replace Elite's inbuilt music with our own. We release Music Packs every few months to keep the music fresh.
VMX is a lot more than simply a music player though, all music tracks are context sensitive event driven i.e you dock and you get docking music, fight, you get combat music etc. The context system goes into great depth and allows you to also link your own music playlists (and even internet radio) with in game events. VMX also lets you remix Music Pack tracks in realtime so you can remove percussion, remove vocals, change instruments, key etc. It also has it's own unique procedural music system. I started this project back in 2017, it's a full time project for me, to say it keeps me busy is an understatement LOL.

The new stuff!
Massive number of QoL features, bug fixes and new feature implementations:
* Cooldown mode- allows your music (and music pack music) to complete playing tracks before moving onto processing the next event, you can do this in enqueue event mode, timer mode or simply use the old system whereby tracks will strictly adhere to changing events.
*Vastly improved profile compatibility when using VMX with other profiles
*Internet Radio V2- Now you can add radio stations by simply going on the web, copying the URL to Windows buffer and saying "add radio station", a station save will be created and named for you. Many built in presets for stations such as Lave Radio etc.
*Easier than ever set up- VoiceAttack can be a pain sometimes to set things up, I've drastically improved VMX installation and Music Pack installation system, you need only import the profile to install VMX and Music Packs can simply be dragged and dropped in their .rar format and VMX will auto unpack, install and configure them for you. Once installed it's just a case of firing up Elite and VMX will just work.
*Improved update notification system and pack info display
*Auto pack and voice set ups. No more need to set up voice or music packs, voice auto sets and all music packs are online simultaneously giving you powerful options to play tracks and mix variants from any of them at any time.
*Major fixes for the VMX journal and event detection, it works much much better now
*Voice and Music Pack locations now configurable by GUI
*Pack settings persist even after VMX/VA update
*Major performance improvements

Many more improvements! We've also got a Black Friday sale on at the moment, Miguel and my Music Packs are currently discounted. If you've not tried VMX Dark Edition, it's truly a beautiful system, it's probably now one of the easiest to set up with VoiceAttack and shouldn't be any hassle. Yes, VMX does work with most other VoiceAttack profiles, there isn't one yet which users have informed me does not work with VMX.

Also, one more for the music:

Thanks for your time!

I've been using VMX for a while and I have to say Angel does an amazing job with support and improving the app. The recent changes to VMX 2.2 are a pretty huge leap over the functionality of the earlier 2.1x versions. Everything works more smoothly and intuitively now. I find that when I'm doing things like mining or some exploration, the music packs really do a great job providing that "chill" factor that makes the game more enjoyable. VMX is one of my better investments for Elite. Keep up the good work!

VMX is cracking and amazing tunes been using this for a while. new update is excellent. I love VMX's procedurally generated music, genius idea. The music packs were made for streamers too and you can also use playlists with game actions, can't recommend this enough, it's sick!.(y)

Excellent Program.

IKR?

The feature I use most often is the context mode. VMX actually reads the player journal to understand the context of what is going on, and the music is procedurally generated if you're using audioblocks, otherwise you can use events to trigger your own playlists. Absolute genius!

So to be clear, you are using the Elite forums to sell your own product that wouldn't work without Frontier's game. I'm not sure if that's one step above or below the posts that simply contain a youtube link.

@nosleepdemon To be clear, this is a mod/add-on. Lots of PC games have mods that improve or enhance the gameplay experience and none of them would work by themselves without the base game.

And how do I use "context mode" with "audioblocks"?

After installing the .vax, I have no GUI to configure anything VMX does.

Ooh, sorry my bad. I just re-read what I wrote... bad sentence structure. Context mode works with the music tracks and your playlists, but not yet with audioblocks. Audioblocks does procedurally generate music. Having said that, context mode is being planned for audio blocks in a future enhancement: https://darknebula.cloud/formations-packs/

Cheers!

Edit #1:

There's not much to do in terms of configuration. Everything is done by VMX. Here's the link for some basic player commands: https://darknebula.cloud/2019/10/05/how-to-play-music-packs-pt-1/

When you get a chance, you should read over the Knowledgebase on the VMX site. It will tell you everything you need to know from installing and upgrading your installation, to how to use VMX via voice commands. https://darknebula.cloud/knowledgebase/

Not had a chance to try the new version yet but loved the previous one as an alternative game soundtrack. It's now top of my to-do list 🎵(y)

just install this but have a question.

I play in VR and use VA with Astra. If I set everything to the player I cannot get commands to work. If I set everything back to Singularity, I get Astra back.

What am I doing wrong?

(y)(y) Picking up the new elements pack today! @Marbat should contact Angel on their discord or email support she said on discord yesterday shes having trouble logging in to forum because of email change

I have been using VMX for some time in ED with VR (and many other games/applications including online tabletop rpg's) and i have found it a versatile and flexible system that i won't run ED without. The music packs are brilliantly fitted together in context mode, Audioblocks and playlists let me use custom or procedural tracks depending on my need or mood.

Support is top notch and the improvements to 2.2 are well thought out and implemented, i cannot praise it enough!

You are the man, thank you for the instructions. Will do this and report back once I have it running.

I do believe I have the proper vax, everything seems to load up but couldn't get the commands nor music to play. This is what I need at this moment as I am on a long voyage, eventually/ hopefully make it to Sag "A" before I die of loneliness.

Thank-you.

You can send email to Angel or join her Discord for help. That would be the more appropriate place to address your questions. https://darknebula.cloud/contact/

Yes! One time, Angel helped me work out an issue. Chatting with her was a real joy. She cares about her customers, it shows. Just join her on Discord, you will see what I mean. She is a wonderful woman, a great composer and developer. I highly recommend supporting her efforts. I certainly have in the past and will continue to do so in the future. o7

You two rock, good info. Yes it will be a pleasure to rid of COVAS, all wondered how to do that so finally I have a solution.

Yes I've been using VA for awhile now and I've had my moments with it, much so that I had stop playing cause couldn't get to work after an issue. I am running it as administrator but I will follow these instructions about off/on administrator. I wasn't doing it as such.

Thanks again, will report back.
