Voice Attack " deploy shield cell " not working

when asking " deploy shield cell "

it says The keyboard bind is missing in Elite: Miscellaneous: Use shield cell

the shield use key is bound to Shift 3 for #

it worked before update

anyone have this problem

I haven't had any binds go missing, but I have heard of it happening.

I am sure you know how to fix it, but just in case.. the easiest way is to go into your controls while in game. Go down to Deploy Shield Cell and hit enter to assign the keystroke. While the game is waiting for you to press the key you want to map, say 'Deploy Shield Cell' and VA should press the appropriate key to remap it.

Odd that only one single bind went missing, that one is kinda new.

Nice trick. I will try this next time on.
This is the only miss binding i have so far, but haven't tested that many yet.

Again thanks

I might have to try this myself. I've got a whole host of missing key binds according to the HCS missing kebinds file, but ive checked and they are in there, ao they must be ones hcs doesn't like.

Man this update to elite is rough.

I did try this just as described and voice attack does not add key stroke to bindings.

Seems as though there is a conflict with different Bind file versions. Go into the local app user frontier developments options binds folder. Cut and past all bind files that are NOT 3.0 to another location (just in case you ever need them)

So you are left with just Binds30 in this location.

This worked for me.

If that's the case, then that means that Voice Attack does not currently have a command assigned for what you're saying.

Sounds like the issue is with Voice Attack. You would always just go into Voice Attack and make a new command for it. Just open your list of commands and then click in the bottom right to create a new command. Set it to fire when you say a phrase like 'Deploy shield cell' and then tell VA to press a certain button when you say that phrase.

You should then be able to map that key press to the function in game and you should be set.

I can't explain why VA would have dropped that one specific bind, I have never had that happen myself.

Something similar happened to me, where i had 9 VA voice cmds not working, plus of course the new binds for the new stuff. Would go into ED bindings and could clearly see that there where keyboard binds for these cmds, but VA would not them us them. Went into the missing keybinds report in the customise panel in VA and saw that i had in fact 21 missing keybinds inc the new ones, which was strange as the day before they were working!

Then saw for some reason ED was using the wrong keybinds file, it had created a new one with all but the missing 21 keybinds copied over. Strange it is. So changed the keybinds in ED, inputted the new ones and hey hey all worked fine.

This may or maynot be releated to your issue, but you could run the missing keybinds in the VA customiser and find out what keybinds VA is using and then tally that up with the one ED is using!

Yep did as you said. All works now.
Old 2.0 versions left behind got in the way.
Moved them to different directory.
Thanks for input

Having same problem - and the fixes described above are not clear. Missing the "Galaxy Map" and "Landing Gear" functions which are the most obvious and vexing problems. They both clearly have keys bound.

It may have to do with my installation: I installed on my "c" drive and then later on my "d" drive (SSD). Now I can't tell if Voice Attack (also installed on both) and/or ED are looking for the keybind files in the wrong locations... I tried the "create keybind" feature, but Elite doesn't see the file in-game (even though I've copied/pasted the file in several locations).

Any help appreciated.

VA doesn't look for keybinds, it just 'presses' the button when you give a command.

IF you installed ED properly (not copied & pasted :p) for both drives they should be looking at their own (correct) folders for the keybinds.

I have custom keybinds, & IIRC when I upgraded ED to 3.3 it wiped some of them (although I also changed joysticks just beforehand, so it have been that), anyway, just check your keybinds in game.
