I would to be able to speak to cmdrs in the same system as me without having to type. Instead a system wide voice chat.

You'll obviously being able to mute people or the hole system completely.

I think this would increase player to player engagement.

I know we have discord but I use enough 3rd party tools to play this game already.

In busy systems that would just result in everyone yelling over each other all the time. In quiet systems it's irrelevant.

But yeah, whatever, I'd just mute it.

It's spooky enough getting o7s in chat out in the black when in Solo (I guess people are sat there watching the network stats). Don't know that I'd want them shouting Boo! as I jump in ;)

tbh a global text chat could have been interesting in so many ways. I understand there are probably reasons against it, either lore or spamming. But in other MMO like Naval Action, it seems to work extremely well. People put out calls for help in their nation (Faction) chats if enemy player fleets are attacking them, ask for tips & advice in game, give general encouragement. I mean, it really does take some of the edge of the grind, and ED got plenty of that... grind that is.
