Voice comm audio effect?

Every time I see people in videos using voice comms there's this cool audio effect that makes the radio chatter sound like the Apollo Missoion comms, static, AM voice distortion, beeps etc. but everytime I wing with comeone there is no audio effect, it just sounds like you're talking on the phone. Is this audio effect not present on Xbox?

It is cool, but it was disabled I believe after update 2.2. I could be wrong. I think the complaint was some pilots with accents was hard to discern what they were saying. I hope they bring it back one day.

This audio effect was never on Xbox. I was excited when they added the voice comms, that quickly turned to disappointment when I found out that it sounded like a regular party chat. I really wanted it on the xbox, but I think that it is a mod or something like that for the PC.

You may be right, but I swear I watched a video of a couple guys playing on xbox and they had the VoIP effect in their wing. It was standard at some point, you can find 2015 year old threads from PC players complaining about it.

I may be wrong with it being an add on for PC, but It was there for PC, but not for Xbox. I remember being all excited and not telling a friend why, sent a voice comms request and when we started talking, I felt like a tool because it sounded just like a normal voice. If this were to make a come back, I would always use it because I loved how it sounded in the videos.

I gotcha. I really like the effect but I can understand why some may have found it difficult to understand some people. Hopefully they will bring it back and add it to Xbox with the option to toggle it off and on that way people have the option.

I can confirm it WAS there for xbox. I, myself, enjoyed a lot talking through wing chat instead of party because of this. But, unfortunately, I believe it had to be disabled since the game would think it was a game sound instead of a voice/comms sound, delivering the sound through the speakers instead of the headset. Now, so that you can hear someone talking through your headset, these effects had to be recognized as voice comms instead of simple game sounds.
Thanks Microsoft and their mighthy "last-gen" console that can't even handle simple communication between players with a sound filter.

Most people on PC use teamspeak or discord to avoid it. The novelty wears off very very fast when you can scarcely understand what is being said.

Going to add your comment form the other thread. since, it was a good comment. ;)

As it has probably been noticed already, after 2.2 I believe, we pilots, on the Xbox One, do not have that cool voice filter effect anymore (https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDange...is_what_the_amazing_ingame_wing_voip_effects/).

So my question is: "why" and "is it going to be added again"?
I'm pretty sure it has not been disabled due to the amount of people arguing that they can't understand a thing, because, 1st. that's not entirely true - I, sometimes, have problems trying to understand an australian speaking, yet last time I spoke to one through elite dangerous wing chatter we managed to understand each other suprisingly well without any problems but the usual ones.
2nd. people can always join a party and not be limited to at the maximum 4 players in the chat (the same way people do on the PC by using Discord or TeamSpeak), so if they don't like it, they know they aren't forced to use it.

Now, I do believe, though, this has been disabled due to console limitation, since - if I'm not mistaken - old comms sounds were recognized as game sounds instead of actual players talking, therefore we had a serious delay in comms and also we could only hear players talking from the main sound output (normally the TV Speakers). Therefore, we couldn't listen to players through the xbox chat headset. This way, so xbox would recognize these sounds as players talking and not simple game sounds, they had to be changed to the default simple and clean type of communication we have on every other game, correct?

If so, devs, can we, console peasants, still hope that we will be having that nice comms filter again in our "not-so-next-generation-machine"? Or is the xbox simply too limited for such a simple feature to be ever available, forcing us to ask (in vain) for the mighty Microsoft to enable this feature through https://xbox.uservoice.com/?
Or even, maybe, has this voice filter effect has been disabled for another unmentioned reason?

Thanks.
Archer.

Soooooo how do you use voice coms cause when I'm in a wing or trying to do so in local it doesn't work.

Seems only trxt chat works and my settings are always on.
