Voice comms advice please

Ive been trying to mentor a friend, he joins my ship no problem and can hear me talking but i cant hear him though i know he’s talking because his chat waveform next to his icon oscillates, we’ve tried everything we know but i still cant hear him, any advice please? (We both use wireless Turtle beach headphones and both have XBox X’s)

Don’t know what XBox pary is or how to use it, can you advise please?

As you've posted a thread in the Xbox section of the forum, we'd all assume you'd be using an Xbox to play the game. And if you used an xbox you'd know all about xbox parties, however the above question raises a couple of questions...

So what platform are you playing Elite on?

- PC
- Mac
- Xbox
- PS4

????

I was just visiting a Guardian Structure in Open and was able to use Voice Comms without any issues. In fact, they worked brilliantly! Though I do miss the old "CB quality" audio that gave it some character.

Anyway, I had no issues. Not to say that it always works, it was my first attempt in literally years. But it did work this time.

Thanks for the info but we aren’t in open, we are in Private Group so that he can join my ship and be mentored, don’t know if that is making the difference, anyone out there having similar problems with voice comms with real player crew members? I will be trying the suggestion to use XBox party chat and assume that if that works it enables voice comms no matter whether in open, Private or Solo and doesn’t prevent mentoring a friend as a crew member which is all were trying to do.

If you use the xbox party chat you don't even need to be in the same game.

Thanks everyone, we tried Party Chat this evening and it worked perefectly. It may be of interest that in addition to this forum question i also raised a bug ticket and have been told they’ve tested voice comms “their” end and its working fine !!!! Just shows they don’t play their own game as their customers play it, at home on XBox.

Voice comms are working. If u cant hear ur friend in game chat its maybe disabled. On Xbox try this, hold X ans push d-pad up (open the window in the left top corner) push RB 3x and play around with the options u can find there untill u can hear ur friend without using party or discord. The Devs playing their own game but we have to find out how it works :)
