Voice communication problems - any help welcomed

I have been playing since Beta 2. Now that we are in Beta 3 and I am grouping up with friends we tried to use voice comms in the game. I could hear them speaking to me, but they could not hear me speaking in response. I have checked my key bindings etc and the only item I can see related to comms is the "mute mic" option which I have mapped to a joystick key and set to toggle - I am working on the assumption that the mapping will mute the mic when I hold that key and that otherwise the mic should be open - if my understanding is wrong can someone let me know.

I am assuming that there is something in my setup that is causing this issue and I was wondering if anyone had to change settings on the pc in any way. Is it possible that settings on AVG or the router or something are preventing my voice comms being broadcast.

I was also using team speak at the time but so were the friends I was trying to communicate with so I know my mic etc work and that teamspeak chat is being broadcast.

I've tied searching and read a number of threads where people say how great the voice comms in game are but I haven't happened to find anyone saying they had issues or how they were solved.

Toggle means you don't hold it, you just press and release. Also, have you verified you mic is working in windows?

Yes I've verified my mic works in windows as I am using it with VoiceAttack, I was also actively using Teamspeak at the time. I've just rechecked my options - the mute mic is mapped to "Hold" not toggle I got that wrong in my original post.

Salute Folks!

One thing to point out is - in game comms, and voice attack are not the same... I have used other in game comms and teamspeak for ever, no problems. I just got voice attack so I am sorry I cannot help you further... Suggest you shut down VA to try TS, see what happens. Sorry I can't do more.

Salute! and cya in the skies!

Someone requested voice comms in the game just now. How do I answer him? My mic is part of my webcam, do I have to turn it on somehow?

Pretty much the same problem here but other way around. My friends can speak together, they can even hear me! But I am not receiving a sound. Other than that, Voice attack is active but even without it, the problem is still there. It seems to be related only to elite. I opened a ticket with Frontier. We'll see what happens. I'll also try to reinstall my drivers tomorrow. It did work once during the beta.

For me I found this setting, underneath your microphone device in "Recording Devices" was critical in order for me to use TeamSpeak *and* record audio in FRAPS at the same time. I suspect it's the same for in-game vox.

Try unchecking it (allowing multiple apps to use it at the same time) and see if you get any further.

Cheers Dan, That fixed it for me.

:)

I suppose running teamspeak and voice attack might confuse the audio......
dor.

Bumping an old thread - Have the same issue as the OP, but if I untick that box, it re-ticks itself if I close and open the mic properties. I have full admin rights on my PC

Cheers
