Voice control Xbox one x

Unfortunatly, since we are consoles and that Voice attack is a third party app, this will not happen (unless the creators get permission by Fdev to hack the game and such) were in the dark at the moment, and its not likely to happen anytime soon

Hi. I want to provide a clear and concise, straight to the point explanation of why voice controls, as done on PC, aren't possible on Xbox. Note, I have Voice Attack and an HCS Voice Pack on my PC.

Basically, Voice Attack can be thought of as a peripheral. To put it simply, when you talk to it, and it recognises the command, it virtually presses a key on your keyboard or mouse. This is where the problem for Xbox compatibility lies.

Voice Attack can only press keys on a keyboard and mouse. Even on PC, it won't be able to press the buttons on your Xbox controller, or HOTAS. Basically, to have Voice Attack, you first need to have full keyboard and mouse controls on your system.

Obviously, Xbox does not have this.

Make no mistake. I would love to see something like Voice Attack on Xbox. But at present, the program's developers have not looked at any way of bringing their project to Xbox, at least to the best of my knowledge.

My point is, Frontier are the wrong people to talk to on this issue. Frontier actually has zero experience with voice commands. They've never touched it. The application you're thinking of isn't Elite-specific. Voice Attack can be used across your entire Windows system. Not just games. I actually introduced a friend to it and he uses Voice Attack now for everything except games.

There's a lot more to this issue than "But PC has it."

EDIT: If you’re asking about using your voice to force commands in the game without pressing buttons, No

————————————————

Yes, in your Xbox settings depending on the accessories you’re using.

The normal way is to use an Xbox party but if you’re in the game and are using the 3.5m controllers, you would hit the guide and adjust volume.

If if you want to further adjust, in settings you can adjust voice and game balance and if the game volume gets lowered during voice chat.
If you use Xbox accessories with the buttons you can adjust on the fly

Good explained!!
The Problem is MS not the console!
A console can technically use mouse and keyboard but it has to be supported. Warthunder on PS4 can use mouse and keyboard ingame. In ED you can use the keyboard to use Chat and enter systemnames on the galaxymap. It's a shame that FD isnt supporting an complete keyboard on consoles for all aspects of the game. How u bind your keys (only Controller or Controller+keyboard) has up to the users (IMHO).

from what i hear FD are trying to get voice commands to console and are in talks with HCS. as for KB+M there is a huge dash update coming 4q for xbox bringing mouse and keyboard support to the console, i dont know how much will be supported so i dont know if you can use them in games we will have to wait and see but we can hope. but xbox and ps4 do have HOTAS support and imo thats better.

Not totally accurate it sends input sequences that if it where to be ported to Xbox could very easily be remapped to any input sequence genarated by the controllers. You are right that with it being a third party pc app the odds of it being ported to Xbox is virtually nonexistent however there is no reason that frontier could not implement there own voice command system for pc or Xbox especially considering that the Xbox already has a built in speech recognition engine in the form of the cortana assistant since the latest news letter from frontier contains links to new voice packages they are clearly on board with the idea in general

It's certainly technically feasible. As has already been said, what PC Voice Attack does is emulate a keyboard and send key sequences to the PC. There's no point in doing this unless or until ED supports the use of a keyboard for anything other than text input.

The way I would do it would be to hack a HOTAS and use a small SBC to do the voice recognition and trigger the buttons via its GPIO ports. A Pi Zero would probably suffice for this and would probably be small enough to fit inside the HOTAS case.

I would really like to see some version of voice attack on the xbox. We already have cortana and alexa integration. What about an app that runs alongside ED or even better ED develop something that is built into the game. Just a thought and it might even the playing field when battling with PC players because xbox controller and my hotas are no match for PC players. Or am I just rubbish in a skirmish, probably.

It’s actually quite fair as the ships turn rates etc are just the same on all platforms but as there is no cross play any players you encounter are on the same system as you.....sorry to tell you but it’s just that you need to practice a bit more but if your on Xbox would be happy to wing up sometime and back you up
