WOW! Considering how old this thread is, I am surprised at the new influx of people seeing it.

It's a very simple script so everyone should be able to understand how I did things, but if not, let me know and I will try to help out.

I know this is a necro thread, I just wanted to say thank you for all your hard work here. As the OP said, not quite perfect, but I don't think any voice recognition software ever will be. We humans mishear things as well. I imported it and then opened my main profile and clicked on profile settings. I then included the dictation profile in the list of "include commands from other profiles". Works great. Can't thank you enough as I have limited desktop space and have to set my keyboard aside when I play and use voice attack for the keyboard commands I don't have enough room for on my HOTAS.

i found that once added to any of your VA profiles it's easy to switch between the two
if you go into your profile , add new command - switch profile then in other actions go to switch to another profile
pick the dictation mode press ok then it will only use that until you say the command switch profile again
in which case it goes back to your main profile , it works for me

I refit my ship with William Shatner last night, and set it all up, working well again. I was juuust thinking 'I need to sort my coms' when this thread reappeared. Timing!

:)

I finally got around to updating VA and I used your profile. Thanks a bunch, it works well out of the box. I made a few of my own commands, based on the examples you gave, they all work very well and the voice to text is very neat. :)

I just imported the above profile, then imported all the commands from it into my VA/Orion profile to combine them into one. If there are any conflicts it tells you before combining them

It's not working for me[sad] I have the latest version of VA. I've downloaded the Dictation Mode Commands-Profile.vap and imported it to my profile. I see the nine commands in comms dictation category. In game I say open channel I get the recording response I say hello hello hello I then say send message Astra says opening hailing frequencies the chat box opens with just the cursor flashing.

This sounds so useful and I can't believe I haven't stumbled on this thread sooner.

Yeh a nice addition for the roleplayers and pirates rather than a macro that cant be made personal to the commander or situation. Only just recently picked up a copy of VA and Astra so maybe skipped these kind of threads in the past.

Although it does have some trouble with a thick west coast Scottish accent and frequently uses wrong words. Pretty much like this ...

Okay so I figured out what the problem was. For one I was in deep space no targets to send a message to no messages from people to send a reply to. When I tried to send a basic local message the newly imported commands where conflicting with one of Astra's Ship Communications commands.

The command that was causing the problem was - Quick comms; [enter;send] message - under Ship Communications.

Once the semicolon ; and the send part of that command where deleted everything worked properly. I hope this information will help someone that that may run into the same problem I had 07 Commanders.

If you're using the current version of the HCS voicepacks with the attached file in the OP, that's the heart of your problem. I doubt very seriously, this far down the road, that those are meant to work together properly. It'd be best of you ditched the file from the OP completely and just used the included profile for Astra in the HCS pack you downloaded.

If you're using an outdated version of Astra, it wouldn't hurt to contact HCS for an updated download link. They've done a lot with the profile since it was first released, including a profile for their version of multi-crew, which lets you use several voice packs at once.

I am currently using the most up-to-date version of Astra and voice attack. I don't believe Astra even has a dictation option for speech to text. You see the function of the OP's file is communication using voice dictation speech to text. The fix which I implied works flawlessly. I even tested it on Notepad. Thank you for trying to help but I believe you are slightly confused.

First I apologise for this post. I don't use Voice Attack but I have been meaning to, and have started to do some "research" on and off on this...

I am truly curious and wondering if once Voice Attack is used, does VOIP not work anymore? Would not a command to toggle VA into VOIP be better, if VA doesn't disable VOIP? Instead of going into Speech-To-Text/Voice Dictation route which we all know is less-than-ideal...

You can assign a PTT in VA, or VIOP. For me I have a PTT assigned for Discord and leave VA running with an open mic. No problems

Glad you got it working, but surprised it still works. I have not used it in a Very long time, but if it still works, great. If not, there is no Warranty :)
