Vote for your favorite paint job; Gold Fer-De-Lance vs Chrome Vulture

For me, the two most confusing design choices in the game are Powerplay and that selling ship skins isn't being exploited to the max.

I'm pretty sure I'd have dropped at least the cost of the game over again by buying skins here and there, had more been available for sale.

While I'm at it, why not add all sorts of things like ground effect lighting for sale, and other similar stuff to pimp your ship. People love that kind of thing.

OnTopicEdit: FDL, obviously. Vultures are so a couple of months ago.

same with me man, FD would have gotten tons of extra $$ from me already for skins and decals.. anything to make me feel like "me" in the game and to help set me apart from everyone else. its really one of my true dissapointments with the game and the devs atm... theres no reason the texture design team cant bust out a skin in a few hours. hell... im not even efficient at such development and I know given the texture templates I could make some bad ass skins in a days time.

InMemorium, I agree with these points, but ...

"heeds my requests"? Forgive my honesty here, but comes across a bit arrogant to me.

1. I have been saying this for so long now, I can't remember.

3. If you're going to make all painjobs available for a new ship, how can it have exclusive painjobs and still meet point 1?

Otherwise good post.

Sorry, I was very tired at the time and am no native English speaker. I struggled to find a way to say what I was meaning to say. Of course those are not MY requests. None of those were originally my idea - I think the whole player base has been repeating the same chant since the very first introduction of paintjobs, back when we didn't even have an external camera mode.

You are right. I am in no way the only person who finds those requests make perfect sense and should absolutely be the only way that painjobs and decals should be handled by FD.
Which really begs the question: Are they either deaf to player requests, unwilling to fulfill them, or simply not able to do so? This poll gives me an ominous feeling about whether resources for the development of new paintjobs for Elite: Dangerous might be so limited indeed that we really have to make an either-or choice. *shudders*

The thing about ship-exclusive paintjobs that I included was an idea that came to me when I thought about the limited wireframe paintjob that some people got for the Cobra. Most paintjobs, like the vibrant and tactical skins, the pirate skin, flag skins and every camouflage skin, should be available for all or at least most ships. And then there could be skins specifically designed for just one certain type of ship. Just a thought.

We're hoping to do more of these type of polls in the future, just as a way of having some fun and letting the community show their support for specific content so other ships and colours may well be coming.

Right now this poll has had just under 3,000 votes and is 48%/52% one way or another (not telling who's in the lead)...

:) Winner will be announced soon.

Zac

Yeah I think its a nice move, unlike before we get a headsup of what paint jobs are coming, and its always positive to feel included ;) I was always a bit of a critic about paid paint jobs but the argument for has won out, just make sure you blow all the cash like Lord Sewel :p

Pah! I seem to have either missed the vote or can't vote. Would have gone for the FDL.

Both ships are massive fun to fly but I prefer the FDL for versatility.

The skin is out, Twitter says it were 20% off. Previously the special paint jobs (Wireframe, Gold, Chrome) were 12.50€, but 20% off of that would be 10€. The Chrome Vulture is 11€, however, which would equal a full price of 13.75€.

Did they just raise the base price of special paintjobs?

They did raise the base prices of everything. $12 for a chrome virtual paint job? No thanks.
This isn't CS:GO, FDEV - try to get your pricing to match reality, not your wishes.

It's being sold for £8 instead of the normal £10 (I paid £10 for the Chrome Viper), so they might have adjusted the exchange rate.
