VR Controllers While On Foot?

Hey with the advent of on foot experiences in VR has anyone tried setting up VR controllers to work on foot?

I was thinking that it would be more immersive and fun if VR controllers could drive the movement and aiming. That could open up some fun options like using a gun stock for combat actions. Even just the feeling that your hands are paired with the controllers would be a good start though.

By default the controllers won't work but there are probably some addon tools which might help bridge the gap. Has anyone tried setting this kind of thing up?

I used the Oculus Rift-S controllers at first, but the lack of buttons and the handicap of using a keyboard while holding them made it no fun. I now use a PS4 controller and keyboard.
