VR - Get a docking computer!

I can dock fine manually, but I decided to buy a docking computer just so I could watch the views instead. And how great it was! I fitted it to my Asp, parked just within range, then went to stand right on the edge of the floor before firing up the docking computer. What a view on a planetary landing! I took off and landed again several times just to watch it again. I'll have to find someone with an Asp looking for multicrew just so I can look out of the window whilst they do the flying.

I guess you could go into the camera suite and cop a view from the bottom deck of an Asp, too. I'll have to try this.

I always fly FAOFF and it is always a fun challenge to always try and get a perfect final approach and touchdown in that mode, so no docking cpu

My buddy tried it when he still hadn' developed his VR legs and the result was immediate nausea. Not being in control, ship spinning around is a sure recipe for motion sickness.

Interesting idea, I've never tried a docking computer, maybe I should give it a go over the weekend.

If you read the OP properly, you'll realise there was a good reason for it, that even I, the most die hard "land it yourself or go home" advocate, understands.

I understand, I use FAOFF because its a wonderful way of flying. And also wonderful to get dizzy because of it

I did not mean that it is the only way to fly or land.
The OP idea is very nice since you can let the cpu land the ship and you can stand up in cockpit and walk around and enjoy the views.

Sorry if I sounded different then what I meant in the post.

Good idea, it had never even occurred to me to move around from the camera views.

I get a slight twinge although it's better than at first. Worth it though.

I don't use. There is so little to do in game, so docking, with a touch of FA off is fun! As a trader however it does provide time to prepare the next jump.

Tried this now with the cutter, literally a new perspective as I stand next to my chair, squarly in the middle of the two pilot's seats.

Then It's usual profanity from whatching the dingbat computer miss the mailslot by half a station, and just barely scraping the walls.

I'm not suggesting it as something to do all the time, I only did so I could stand there and admire the view beneath my feet.

I did that too!

As soon as I left the station I controlled the FdL by voice alone. Took her around the planet and docked using Docking CPU
