Glasses such as these would be perfect

I do not think it's a question of vanity. This is mainly (for me in any case) the size, the volume which is a straitjacket. If the évolution of the technology allows of reduced the size, like eyeglasses, then it will be perfect

Comfort is a good point. Sony have had experience in making headsets and the reviewers have said that they feel comfortable.

As for the vanity of how it looks to the general public.. Are you going to use this in public? Maybe you could use them on air journeys but I'd never trust it on a park bench. You pull the headset off and you find yourself without your rucksack or briefcase and stripped naked.

I got a bit drunk last night, checking my emails this morning I appear to have pre-ordered a DK2.

Welcome to the I-don't-know-if-I've-done-the-right-thing-but-I'm-going-to-have-fun-finding-out club!

Neither of the two. If one day the size is like eyeglasses, then I will play with VR

Oops. Forgot the "None" option. Sorry...

its the same reason people spend so much money on designer frames for their glasses - vanity. its often not enough for something to work well, it has to look good on your face when you're wearing it, even though you won't see it yourself when you do.

Agreed. None of the people I know don't give a hoot how their personal property looks. Personally I think it's a weight issue as well.

Good thing it was just a DK2... Some of those Baltic websites can be very enticing...:cool:;)

With OR turning in to a "Share your kill with your friends" device, and as far as I know the Sony will be for PlayStation only, it doesn't leave much in the wy of options.

I'd still be happy if FD supported FreeTrack, to save me from the horror of having to buy TrackIR :(

Have you looked at the CastAR system ,It should do both augmented and full VR ,has tested out better than OR in many reviews and I think their first 1080 units are due to ship around Oct' (for their KS pledger's)

I think the Augmented option could be superb ,but wait and see I guess :)

The VR side has tested better than OR? Can you give a link to those reviews, I'd like to read them. I'm not interested in AR and their Harry Potter wand at all, but if the VR is better than OR then I would be interested in that.

I'm a bit confused by the CastAR specs. They say that the projectors are running at 120Hz, but there's two of them, but they need to uses shutter glasses to eliminate cross-talk. Does that mean the glasses run an 60fps? If you are using the VR clip-ons, which shouldn't suffer from cross-talk, are you still limited to the same rate as when you're using the reflective cloth?

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the 120Hz figure comes from both screens running at 60Hz each, with dual shutter producing 30 FPS.

Just my thoughts.

I much prefer the Oculus way of eliminating crosstalk. If the wrong eye sees the wrong image then something seriously disastrous has gone wrong.

I'm more inclined to get CASTAR, looks to be a lot more versitile,... assuming it will be supported by E : D

I voted other. I bought a HOTAS ready for when I get a VR setup but I am waiting until development is a bit more mature, the price has gone down and there is more choice. Normally I am an early adopter with tech but this is still a bit too embryonic for me.
