VR Unusable After Update

[Solved ]VR Unusable After Update

I've been searching around and haven't been able to find anyone else having this issue. I have a DK2 which has worked splendidly with E:D since the day I bought into the beta, but since the Beta 3 update, Rift mode is absolutely unplayable for me. The DPI seems to be doing its own thing, leaving me to force my eyes to converge harshly in order to see (and noticing a massive reduction in FOV). Changing Oculus settings does nothing at all, with the service active or disabled.

Any idea what the heck is going on?

Check your IPD. One of the 3.X patches did something and reset it - you need to set it to the same value as your Oculus config IPD.

ED Beta 3 + Runtime 0.4.3 (service running!) + Extended Mode (Rift as Primary Display) works. As Zargor said make sure you measured your IPD using the Config Util and set it in ED's config file accordingly.

Interesting. The IPD in that file read 1.0. After changing it to my IPD 0.065500, I see no change in-game. I'm running with OR service on, with my IPD set properly there too, in extended mode. Turning off the service does nothing. Additionally, the game jumps (almost as if it is skipping forward in time) randomly, though this is probably an unrelated issue.

Damn it, why did they have to go 'fixing' things!? It used to work flawlessly.

Sorry for the double post, but I've just solved the problem. 1920x1080 isn't a resolution option! It is hard to read text, so I thought I had it right, but it is set to something else. The rift works fine in the demo scene with the desk, and Windows is reporting it at 1920x1080, but E:D isn't showing that resolution as an option. I went into the Display Settings and forced it to the correct resolution, and it seems to be working now. I'm sure the DPI was off too, so thanks for pointing that one out.

The time skipping didn't happen last go around, so I hope that doesn't come up again. So everyone, lean in close when you set your resolution I guess O_O

Thanks for the help everyone.

Congratulations I'm pleased you fixed your problem. You mentioned 'Rift mode' - just a heads up, at this moment in time all the feedback suggests Direct mode is slower than Indirect mode (ie less FPS). There is a separate thread about why 75 fps is a good goal :)

Thanks! Let me clarify. When I typed rift mode, I meant playing the game with the rift. I am using extended mode, as I don't think I've been able to use direct in the past. I was able to pay for about an hour just now with no issues (other than being interdicted every time I enter a new system. The interdiction avoidance mini-game is simple but awesome!) until I crashed due to a (probably) unrelated error. E:D continues to be my favorite rift experience. :)
