VR users, Map problem.

o7 Cmdrs,

When playing in VR, I encounter 2 problems. Whilst not entirely game breaking they make life difficult.

1. When switching to the System Map I can’t seem to line up the map so the view matches the curser, nigh on impossible to plot.

2. The same issue with the Galaxy map, unable to use the mouse as a curser. I can switch through the map menu with joystick
but this is pretty slow and hit and miss. It also brings up context menus for the system, which it then scrolls through.

Any ideas?

You are correct, the mouse is not usable in galmap when in VR.
It's best to set your control axis' to move around the galmap.

We make an excellent team, at helping people with their forum questions. Perhaps we should apply for moderator level of legend status?


Reply for the op - have you tried using the system map from within the discovery scanner? Or when in the srv. That might be worth a try.

I think we have to at least ask and even if they say know we'll always be legends to each other and are dozens of forum fans.

Hell yes. Bordering on being leg-ends I should imagine. Not that we're being boastful of course, but credit where it is due, right?

OP - have you tried blowing the dust out of your headset? You can try the router as well.

I havnt tried actually, but I am pretty sure this is not going to possible or practical as 99% of my map use is in Station before the flight.

Not practical. it would mean exiting the game, re opening in non VR. So no, more hassle than it’s worth.

Yeah I have set them, but the System map doesn’t even line up, which makes it quite hard to see what is getting highlighted.

It’s because VR isn’t ready for testing in the Alpha - I submitted a bug report for a VR issue and had it marked invalid with that excuse.

Quite a few things that should be 3D aren’t, stuff is rendered differently in each eye, “maintain vehicle horizon” doesn’t work - we’ve been told VR will be in Odyssey “at launch” and it appears that doesn’t include the Alpha.

So I’m afraid we’ve just got to lump it for the time being.

Sorry, my mistake Are you using a mouse by any chance?

I use a gamepad with my headset and don’t have the problems you’re having.

No problems.
I use a Hotas, but oddly enough I can use the Mouse to navigate the Station services menu, and it works perfectl.

Ah, I only used a HOTAS for a short time but I set up two thumbsticks to act the same as my gamepad sticks, and the zoom in-out on my throttle paddle switch thing.

Hopefully someone with more HOTAS experience can chime in with a solution for you.
