VR Wings Thread

NOTE: We are planning a deep space survey together. Please see this thread to sign up if you're interested. More info there.

Hi guys,

Now that wings are out, I'm much more interested in multiplayer. At the risk of sounding "Elite-ist", I really would like and prefer to do so with other OR users. We should all be having the same amazing experience!

I'm sure a lot of you feel the same (and a lot of you are strongly opposed :p), so here's a thread where you can stick your name down and people with ORs can find you and add you and visa versa.

So here's me, and I'll update it with you guys too. Please state if you have a microphone or not, what time you play, what your main ship is, and any other relevant info about what you are looking for in a wing and I'll try and include it all here.

I've formed a group for this: Dr. Kaii.
(I'd love to rename it, when they enable us to)

It's open, so please join. Can play in it whenever you want, although I'm sure most of us will
still be playing in Open play more often. Join it for the sake of future proofing. Maybe in a few months time it will have a few hundred people and will be worth it!

CMDR Shoryuken, in the UK, with mic. Usually on evenings and weekends. If you want to wing up I'll be game for a laugh.

Myself and CMDR Elooder fly in a wing with the DK2. My ingame name is Flex1978. GMT+3, Have a mic but tend to use txt because of voice attack.

CMDR ThunderSqueak
I have a mic, usually on in the evenings Alaska Standard Time
I do use voice attack and prefer using teamspeak with push to talk as a result

CMDR Bravo Zulu - with microphone, DK2, X52 & VA.Been wondering how to hook up with some like minded folks to join a wing, I have no RL mates in the game. If there is room for a novice, please count me in. I'm in a relatively lowly Cobra III and be happy to take recommendations on a load-out that would complement the other wing members. Will we develop Wing goals or a strategy to influence the environment?BeeZee

Cmdr Tinimark reporting for duty, Cornwall, UK. Have a beam forming mic coming this weekend. Not sure how good that will be as I like to play loud!

Question..when in wing, is the mic live all the time or is there a PTT?

Cmdr Geo Merkator, with mike. Clever quips and stimulating conversation as a Free Bonus (for a limited time only)

You can mute your mic just like in any other situation, but no specific PTT. Just PTM (push to mute), with toggle and hold. I'm happy to test it out for you. Playing with loud speakers is definitely one of the most incredible things a man can do in his mortal life, but in teamplay, headsets are usually the way to go. You can get really good headsets with extremely convincing surround sound.

I'm going to add everyone's name to the op, and include what relevent information you have given. I forgot to ask people to mention what time they play and whether they are pros or novices (makes a difference, 2 pythons and a sidewinder don't make a great wing!)

So feel free to edit your posts and include what your main ship is, and where you're from/what time you play.

Thanks guys! Glad this thread is taking off. I'm personally going to add everyone.

I also am not really sure what I want out of a wing, so I think we should form one. I'm also pretty novice but getting there so might be good. I'll invite you next time I see you online and we can come up with our own goals. That's what Elite is all about

I had exactly the same idea whilst playing last night.

I'm CMDR FractalViper - I have a mic, though this setup is untested yet. I usually play in the evenings 8:00pm-12:00pm GMT (not continuously)

Would be nice if the galaxy map showed the location of ALL members of your private group :/

Agreed, adding your name. If there were some sort of admin ranking for the group, I would have been happy to make you one, but alas, all men are equal in love and war and elite

CMDR Roj Blake, UK 9pm onwards. Looking for casual play.

EDIT: I can find no group called VR WINGS?

That's cos I haven't made it yet :p

Every time I try to log in, my phone dings with an email with someone replying to this thread, so I update the op. And now I'm logging in, check for it in 5 minutes

EDIT. Apparently you can't change the name, it's stuck with YOUR name. I'm going to make one called Dr. Kaii then, (TERRIBLE NAME FOR THE GROUP!), but if someone with a better name wants to make it, pm me. Zedran Boostpack, you have the best name so far :p

mostly online 07:00 and 19:00 (german time Zone)

Er, I hadn't thought of that. This is going to be hard. I personally love making Sol my home, but you'll get Emperials refusing to come anywhere near there. Best bet is to just add friends and decide to group up ad hoc.

Seems the multiplayer aspect still has a ways to go. Anyway, I added you to friends Bravo, when you playing?
