Edit:

Just got my advanced scanner and did a short run from Sol to the small cloud south of coalsack. Will head towards the sack and then back to Sol tomorrow, finally figured out what stars i need to disable on my path so i know what i can refuel at, had a couple scares after hitting like six T stars in a row.

What you flying? Once you're in an A5 FSD asp, refuelling is never a problem as whenever you get a scare you can just do what you do, check for a nearby star that is scoopable and all is good. In that setup, even a 20ly jump barely makes a dent in your fuel supply. Glad to see you falling for the call of the black like all of us :D

see, the last time I got to play was prior to wings being added, and it did not have the option to show star types ( as far as i remember) then

So its just my stupidity and then coming across that option, and then finding info on what starts are scoop-able.. i just hit like 6 stars that i could not get anything from in a row, and then finally on the 7th, was able to refuel.

More like dumb-ass-itis on my part and yeah, I want to get into am Asp at some point

CMDR Nasuti here. Stationed in Colorado, US and play evenings/night EST. Mic enabled but untested in ED; flying a pretty nice Cobra right now.

Colorado is my favourite place in the whole world. I am going to move there with my wife one day you bet.

Do you watch JStuStudios?

Anyway, welcome on board!

Hi all, how do I actually get into contact with you in game?

In the "Friends and Group management" I can see who's online in what mode but neither there nor on the comms panel do I see any option to join a group chat or initiate one-on-one comms with group members.

In the comms panel you can click on someone's name and invite them to wing, which is about the best you can do in terms of a group chat. Otherwise you have to speak to people one on one or with Skype or teamspeak

The problem is I only see names of local pilots in the comms panel (playing in open). I don't see any group members' names there although I can see them being online (in open) in group management.

Yeah you're missing the point of a group. There are 3 ways to play. Open, Solo, or Private group. If you play in the group, it's like a mini server. You'll only run into players also in that group. Its not a social feature per se. No group chat or anything.

At the moment no1 really uses the group. Has about 23 people and when it grows and if and when we start doing some events, it will come into more regular use. Also, if you want to stay away from pirates but still want to potentially run into other VR players (unlike Mobius), then you can use it as I do

Asp kitted for exploring, currently 2.5kly out from SOL.
Mic, never used it.
Would be great for some company over the airwaves to break the solitude up. :)

Oh crap I didn't know there was a group, I'd totally use it all the time. I like being alone in space with only NPCs and friendlies and just relaxing after work.

Fellow VRers, please check the thread linked on my sig-pic (click it). There's a great expedition that I know you would all love to go on :)
