Ships Vulture for PvP?

I think more practical are gimballed rf or eff pulses/bursts, for fixed rather lr burst lasers, point is that you can fire from 3km with lasers, and your victim have to chaff even at this range to reduce phasing damage, so vs lasers 2 chaff is not enaugh, and aimbot advantage even with worse dpe/dps goes on top finally, but im hotas scrub, guess for K+M rf fixed can work a bit better. Anyway, laser hybrid is dueling vulture build, for wings, pacifer and plasma builds emphasizing shield tanking are better. This is what i use https://s.orbis.zone/a1oi

So the SRB rail no good for PvP?

Is the Vulture any good for PvP?

Not if everyone else has FDLs, or most medium combat vessels.

There are always exceptions to the rule, but by and large the Vulture has neither the firepower nor durability to be competitive if you aren't in a venue with ship/loadout restrictions in place.

Why 2 chaff launchers?

Allows for a constant stream of chaff, if needed, and more total time with chaff up.

How good is your range control?

The thing that puzzles me is that NPCs still spam chaff, even if you're clearly rocking fixed weapons. I can be happily zapping away despite their chaff and they STILL pop more of the stuff. For me, Gimbals are a bit of a mixed bag. They are powerful, but at the same time if someone has chaffed it becomes a pain to shoot at them & you're better off fixed.

Pretty good. Have been using SRB beam lasers on a Vulture and keeping the range within the effective band without too much trouble. Rails are a bit more forgiving on range with SRB.
So with the chaff you alternate them? Does that work having them on the same button?

☝ What Morbad says.
The Vulture is a fun ship with small rebuy and it's not easy to destroy, but you usually stand no chance against mediums,
especially not against hitscan mediums than outrun you like railverski Phantoms or beam/frag Mambas.

Regarding the gimbal vs fixed lasers, I think the Vulture is stable and maneuverable enough in FAoff to use fixed,
even with Hotas.

Might be worth a shot then, but probably not on a Vulture, where you don't have many hardpoints to spare and using an SRB rail instead of a PA will be a handicap, especially at point blank ranges.

SR TC plasma is doing around 230 dmg alone, 60% absolute, it's hard to find alternative, from my experiance keeping Vulture at small overheat just for damage bonus is easy, but vs 6 boosters meta fdl i would rather take gimbal lasers, but i can say this about any ship vs chaffless FDL. It's hard to overcome 6000! hitpoints in Vulture, and 6k is common pvp fdl with 6 boosters and HD armour

What do you suggest? I have a build for SRB FDL, but not tried it.

So you wouldn’t run phasing sequence to beat the shield tank? The reason I looked at rails is you can take reverb experimental to give meta shield bank tanks a headache.

No, most hulls will be in good shape after yuo take out shields, phasing is just damage boost for lasers vs shield tanks, only this, cascading good pilot in fdl in duel is not that easy, and impossible with SRB rails.

In a PvP Vulture awesome flying skills are much more important than the choice of weapons. Efficient gimballed beams with thermal vent will do a lot more damage sooner than fixed PAs or rail guns if a player knows how to fly the thing. Go with a Fer de Lance for high energy weapons after mastering a Vulture.

Thanks for the advice. I like the Vulture the thrusters are very powerful so orbiting in a controlled fashion keeping the range close is not too hard. Will see how it goes.
