Horizons Vulture Mass Locked My Type-7 is this right?

Just wondering as they both have a mass factor of 10 should they be able to mass lock each other? Vulture just destroyed my type 7 because I was masslocked and couldn't jump. Couldn't find any info on this.

Vulture = 10, Type-7 = 17 You shouldn't have experienced any frame shift inhibition unless another ship was in the area (unless that has been changed in the last update)

It doesn't matter anyway, Mass Inhibition Factors only works on low wake jumps. You can high wake out of any situation.

Isn't the basic mass-lock modified by the mass of the ship? If the Vulture is tanked out with lots of heavy upgrades and the Type-7 is flying empty would that make the difference?

No the masslock factors are fixed values. They don't even have a relation to the ship's hull mass, but are arbitrarily assigned to each ship, which leads to some weird cases where an obviously heavier ship is mass-locked by a less massive one (i.e. a Python (350t) can lock a Type-9 (1000t) but not the other way around).

In the OP's case though, a Vulture (factor 10) should not be able to lock a T-7 (16). Only sensible explanation would be a third ship in the instance, maybe with silent running enabled, so OP overlooked it. Otherwise it must have been a bug, or - as 777Driver mentions - it might have been changed in the last update.

.

this is madness imo. have the devs ever explained their reasoning on this, a T9 is in enough trouble as it is against a python, or could it be the case of a typo somewhere in the code?.

So the information at coriolis.io is wrong? Should be updated, then.

Coriolos lists them both with a mlf of 10 indeed... Tbh. my (and 777's for that matter) information may be outdated and it was in fact changed.

Assuming the values from coriolis are correct, then yes, a Vulture (230t) could mass-lock a T-7 (420t).
