NPC pilots who arrive at stations and settlements should also disembark and walk around the station/settlement and then embark again and fly away. Maybe not everyone (e.g. some just land for refueling, restocking), but at least some of them. That would increase the immersion by a lot.
On settlements it should be possible to kill them (and get a bounty/claim). One thing to consider here though is what to do with their ship occupying the landing pad. The easy/lazy way is to make it disappear after some time, tho that's not too immersive and I don't really have a better idea now. I guess if settlements had the underground hangar it could disappear and we could pretend that it was moved to some storage or something.
This could also open a possibility for new mission types like meet someone and pass info/goods or assassinate where you could do this both in space and on-foot.
