General Walking in ship, npc followers

great, really enjoying Odyssey (mainly because all I do is explore) but it's really lonely out there with my Asp. There's a free seat underneath me, but I can't have a recruited npc use it, even if they just sit there looking pretty. It would be super cool if they could use that seat, and follow me, and take orders, cover me, and just be there thousands of LY away from home, I got a friend.

Not too difficult to add I imagine and I wouldn't complain but frankly I consider it super low priority compared to other more exciting possibilities.
