Well CMDR, that day has finally come.
I settled for an MSI GT73VR 7RF Titan Pro Gaming laptop.

I'll be doing updates and installing software for the next couple of days before I get to try out E: D on the new machine.

Always interested why "gaming" laptops? They're very heavy, so they are not that convenient to carry around. And they're nowhere near as powerful as desktops, mostly due to insane thermal throttling.
I could live with all of that that if not for being stuck with that tiny screen in very uncomfortable position relative to the keyboard. But it's my pet peeve with all laptops.

While at home, I have it sitting to the side, turned on, lid closed. I have a 40 inch screen plugged into the HDMI, an external keyboard/keypad/mouse and external speakers.
So I am still using it as a desktop and still have the freedom to pick it up and take it with me while working away.

Not available in UK so whatever.

True pc gamers build there own anyways.
I used to do that too, up until 10 or so years ago, when gaming laptops started appearing.
Nowadays I find it more convenient buying one off the shelf instead of getting carried away with top end components and paying 2 or 3 times as much building a desktop.
Plus, real life interferes with the things I would like to do instead, such as building desktops again...

How are you dealing with cooling? While it has really impressive vents for a laptop, I've never used/seen one that wasn't thermal throttling under load.
This thing also comes with 120hz screen as an option, which is quite cool for a laptop I must say.

How are you dealing with cooling? ...

Not dealing with it at all, if anything, on hot days I turn on the aircon, at all other times, there is a fan pointed at the corner where I do my gaming.
When things get too hot, I notice the fans kicking into high gear and emitting more noise than usual, but you can't hear that with headphones...

But if cooling is a concern to you and you have money to burn, have a look at this Frankensteiner of a laptop from ROG:

Because you need a meaty graphics card to play these high end 3d FPS. They are basically desktops with a screen attached also high res. Games however could be better optimised but they have become lazy with basic port from console or running full desktop settings.
