Warning: mountains using new invisibility cloak...

LOL, I get that often when I'm in ships that fly faster than my PC can render.
Do you have or know flying groups that are just people who want to fly and race together strictly for the pleasure of flying/SRV running (no BGS requirements)? I mostly play in solo cause I'm not really into combat, but I would definitely get into open if there were 'pleasure' flying groups (or mining groups). Guys like you and Alec are able to keep your SRV's airborne for 95% of the time... I'm no where near as good as you guys, so expectations would have to be kinda low lol.

Quoting that NEVER gets old. 😂

@Willyum-71 come and join us in the Buckyball discord (linked above). Send me an in-game friend request (same name as here). If we’re on at the same time (and I'm back in the bubble) I'll be glad to come and race SRVs with you some time.

At least, it's a new one on me. As you can hear, it took me a few seconds to realise what happened. :D

(it's a clip of a magic mountain rather suddenly arresting my forward motion)

Seeing that you use an iCourier, i presumed you do have strong shields.
Apparently not tho, seeing that your blind date with the mountain almost end in disaster.

I keep repeating that every time i look for exobio stuff (some tussock for example), not seeing any, then landing and disembarking and finding meself in a field full of the said grass :)

Nope, it's made of paper. :D

(I only put shields on for the landings - I regularly lose more than half during that manoeuvre. It's still ok in a fight, though, as it can run rings around most ships or run away. )

This can do 885 with 800+ shields, and it can actually jump and get you to places...
and if you drop 2 shield boosters, you can even fit a srv, and still go for 875m/s and have like 550 shields

the courier is almost too silly 😂

Mine jumps fine, it's my preferred exploration ship.

Haven't got room for bigger shield or shield boosters, I need SRVs and other utilities. The only person that generally explodes my Courier is me.

It is a silly ship. I used to hate it. Now I love it. And I love it in paper. Just because. :ROFLMAO:

Just to add... Your example has no power or weapons (or SRVs  ). As soon as I add anything useful, I have to change everything else. Which is how I got to my paper plane in the first place.

as i said, you can remove 2 shield boosters and add a srv, losing only 10m/s top boost speed and some shields.

Sure, if you want to have an universal ship and not one only for high speed surface skimming, the top speed will drop even more, depending on how much you go above the minimum thruster value for hull mass (61t for enhanced dirty drives with drag drives)
My Own Odyssey Mission Runner Courier is not as speedy (only 648 boost), but she's really tough

That's what it is, as much as a Courier can be. It's not built for racing, but it's still good for hooning (750 boost when I have everything I need on-board is perfectly fine). :) I did set it up for max speed at one point, but I've never needed that and prefer having options.

Nothing like skimming the ground @10 meters looking for grass - night vision works for showing it up but takes the fun out of 10M skimming :)

I guess my build is kinda in the middle of you guys....
After Northpins post and build, it inspired me to drop the FSD and fuel tank down a size... That was very smart, still gives decent jump range but gave me almost an extra 100m/s (have to try this with the rest of my small racers)... Thank you Northpin

Current build... Material Girl
still needs a little engineering (she was originally my material gatherer and wake scanner at the 'soup kitchen' ships, inspired by D2EA vid)....
Without SRV 850m/s... With SRV it's 806m/s... but still multi-role
Shield 684, 5 second Boost...
Direct boost into my FC at 804m/s (with SRV) at 90 degree angle mostly resulted in 50% shield but no hull damage. Only once took shield away completely, 85% hull left. Test for 'repair limpet resulted 29% hull repair increase per limpet (but flying with 2 limpets decreased top speed down to 783m/s)

My reasoning for parts I chose...
I needed a Hot Pink beam laser for just in case I'm picked to be 'The Finish Line' marker (I felt Hot pink would be the easiest to see from a distance), I also engineered with Regeneration sequence to help heal peoples shields faster.
A repair limpet and 4 ton cargo bay to synthesize repair limpets for myself and fellow flyers (obvious reasons)
2 Railguns, 1 with Super Penetrator to go along with the beam, cause... 'Open play... ya never know, the other is 'slugs so I never run out of ammo. (would have been more fun with firework Flak, but can't 'lightweight' them.
Heat Sink... cause if you fuel scoop in a courier, you already know! (the half size tank helps a lot with this.... but there's also the Railguns)
I almost never fly any ship without SRV
And finally the 5 second boost with the best distributor cause Courrier's boost speed drops off very fast... and sometime having a faster boost interval can make up the difference from having a higher 'top speed' but a longer boost interval. (translation... even though I'm a little slower than you Northpin, I might still be able to go neck and neck from your slower boost. vroom vroom, you ready? lol)
So to have all the toys means bigger power plant and distributor.... However, that 850m/s is the fastest this build can go... even if you right click on 'Optionals, Hard Points, and Utility's' to completely clear them all out empty down to just Core components, this ship will not go over 850. Same with Northpin's faster build with smaller power plant, 885 is max. All ship have a Max speed where you can add weight without harming top speed (jump range will still be affected though, but not speed).

With the right pilot this ship could possibly handle Haz-Res, but I'm pretty sure I better just stick to 'High'.
