Newcomer / Intro Warning! upgrading to the bigger ships.

Also be careful which missions you accept.

I stupidly accepted a carry cargo mission to an outpost, and found I couldn’t dock when I got there.

Even though I had a smaller ship as well, in which I could have completed the mission. At the moment there is no transfer cargo between ships mechanic.

I had to abandon the mission and sell it all on the black market, affecting my rep.

Drat! I wish I'd read this earlier. I have just made the same stupid mistake - assuming that because the station had the word Hub after it, it would be one of those big 'Wheely' things.
Had to abandon the mission and then - like you - find a place with a Black Market to unload the stuff. That was the worst part - a hardened space warrior like myself trying to offload 11t of Fruit & Veg on the Black Market. Oh the shame of it!

In that case maybe a subtle warning when you actually buy a large ship would not go amiss, and would prevent a certain amount of lost travel time and grief upon arriving?

"Please be advised that you have purchased a ship with limited landing capability! Any future journeys / flight plans should be mapped out accordingly."
Would work for me.

Who buys a car/truck/camper/motorhome without first looking into what it can/can't do. If you're going to spend a lot of money, find out what you're buying first. No need to dumb down the game. Basic life experience is all that is needed in this case.

You could always just dump it when cops aren't around.

Well actually quite a few people apparently - if you read through the thread and find out how many other people have been caught out in this way.
How is it dumbing down the game to give the player much needed information? information that maybe should be included in the manual. I have read the manual - I cannot recall anything telling me that certain ships, because of their size, cannot land on certain stations - i.e. outposts. Please feel free to correct me on this.
Can I ask you a question? How did you come to find out that outpost stations had a ship-size limitation for landing?

Putting a "required pad size" on the shipyard screen wouldn't damage the game.

It's actually kind of baffling that you have to look in the forums or a wiki to see what lands on what.
