Warthog: no twist?

Hi,

i wanted to get a warthog, as my thrustmaster hotas feels kinda too much plastik for me.
Now ive seen that its not possible to twist the warthog sideways as one can do with the thrustmaster x hotas.

How do you play E:D with a warthog? Do you all have additions pedals?

Thanks!

Yeah, I think so. I've ordered a warthog (not yet arrived) and Saitek pedals (arrived 4 weeks ago).

Either that or assign throttle buttons / controls to whatever the twist function should do if there was one.

Yup, the sole reason I dont own a Warthog is it's lack of twist.
I currently fly with Saitek x52pro.
I considered the x55 but the button placement in my opinion is a huge letdown.

I have the Warthog, and have set the pinky switch to yaw rather than roll with the roll axis on the joystick when held. The only time I have needed yaw is during landings.

You can either use pedals or in the control panel there is an option to 'Yaw into roll', the joystick will produce yaw before it goes into a roll.

I use the mic switch for yaw. I push forward for right, backward for left, it's done me well enough, until I get around to getting pedals.

I have the Warthog and use Saitek Pro Pedals for yaw - I could never use a twisty stick, too easy to twist accidentally! :)

I have the Warthog, the X55 and the X65f, and they are all great in their own way.

I do like the X55, but my first one developed button problems and the replacement had an issue with one of the hats straight out of the box. My third one has a joystick that creaks when squeezed - the two halves don't stay together. However, I'm not that bothered by it as everything else is fine, once I removed the old joystick grease and replaced it to avoid friction. I'd love a higher build quality version of the X55. Perhaps we'll see the later some point in the future ala X52 and X52 pro.

If there was a twist Warthog, or a mod to buy, I'd jump on it. I was hoping that these guys would do it, but alas no...

I was also hoping this stick would have a twist function, but out of luck again!

The trouble is, most flight sim enthusiasts don't want twist as it interferes with precision, and they are happy with pedals. I personally play ED with a laptop on my lap, and using pedals moves the computer around so is a non-starter :D

EDIT: Found this on the VKB site - Another twist stick

There's a mouse nipple on the WH throttle that I use for yaw... even though I have combat pedals. I like to slouch, cross my legs Han Solo style in my Cobra so I prefer the "nipple". Or you can put yaw to one of the bazillion hats.

But you won't buy a better HOTAS build and precision wise.

Could you tell me the dimensions of the lower plates? I modified my chair - gotta know if it will fit ;)
