Was very much looking forward to the release, but found out a few things and not gonna buy it now...

Hello everyone,

as most of you here I was very much looking forward to the release of this game. It looks amazing, just up my alley in terms of gameplay.

Then as the release day crept closer (like until now at least), none of my usual youtubers seem to have videos out. This is somewhat suspicious, and suggest either weird conditions for allowing pre-release gameplay, or they just weren't asked and/or no codes were handed out yet (also weird).
This in itself doesn't mean much, but then I found out it will use Denuvo, which instantly blacklists it for me. Until this is removed (hopefully) in a future update, I won't touch it. There is no excuse for using something as vile and intrusive as Denuvo.

I'm really very very disappointed in Frontier by this move, it basically means I've lost faith in the leadership and will be unsubscribing from any mail updates and similar informational channels. I really thought quite highly of you guys, maybe you'll eventually revert this decision. But I guess the damage is done.

Good bye,
Creat

As I understand it, the use of Denuvo would have been a pre-requisite to developing the game, put in place by Universal, who own the IP. It won't have been Frontier's decision, and any developer chosen to make JWE would have had to implement it.

It's your loss, I have a couple of games that use Denuvo and never had the slightest problem with it... bye!

May I ask - out of genuine curiosity - have you had a bad experience with Denuvo? Something specific? I hear a lot of complaints about general performance issues, but I have never experienced it personally. I'm not a fan of DRM, but it sure won't stop me from playing a dream game like this.

Excuse my ignorance, but what affects the "Denuvo" in the game?..... or what affects pc performance?

It's a Digital rights management (DRM) that protects the game against piracy.
Some people think that Denuvo is to intrusive, which it isn't and that it isn't compatible with possible mod support in games, which it also isn't.
Another much heard claim is that you need to be always online, that is also false.
To answer your question: Denuvo will not have any effect on the game whatsoever.

I'm just confused about how this part specifically is relevant. What youtubers are you watching? It's not weird for content creators to not have copies of the game early. And if they did, not showing gameplay isn't weird either. It's called a Non-Disclosure Agreement. Content creators risk getting banned and losing their job for breaching NDA. On top of that, they will never have a relationship with any developer ever again for breaking NDA. There's nothing "weird" about it.

oh, thanks for clarifying my doubt
That means that just for not having support for modifications and and to be in favor of anti piracy. there will be people who will not buy the game? LOL

Was legit worried when I saw the title. Turns out just to be someone who doesn't understand how IP is licensed. DMR can be annoying and bothers me because it can drive up the unit price with little actual benefit to the studio, but half the time it's not their call. I'm glad this game is getting made. I'm happy Frontier was able to get the game going and was able to work with Universal to make it happen.

Well, Devuno hardly affects performance. You are acting rather childish about this. This isn't anything new, Planet Coaster uses it too. Not sure what the deal is with your "faith" if you just now found about. But anyway, it's your choice.

Oh, no.. Denuvo isn't a problem for mod support, this game will not have mod support but it has nothing to do with Denuvo, about the rest you are right.
I think it's a troll to be honest, because his post doesn't make much sense.

If the current Denuvo version is really intrusive then I might reconsider buying too.
I will have too look into it.
I am not blaming FDev though. I do not believe it was their decision.

Considering all the piracy going on I do understand the need to protect software and if Denuvo is decent to me as a user, then I will definitely not refrain from buying this awesome looking game..

Well iff true, that settles it for me.
Bring it on.....

I have Planet Coaster and it has Denuvo and like I said I have never had any problems with it
Also Planet Coaster has an enormous amount of mods, also with that no problems.
People seem to overreact sometimes but the OP seems to look for excuses to not buy the game and by posting it here it seems obvious this is to troll rather than to discuss.

What kind of excuse is that? If you want to blame anyone for Denuvo being used blame Universal frontier are only making the game the final say is Universal's but okay thanks for putting up a good argument and goodbye.

No need to blame everything on Universal, Frontier also uses Denuvo for Planet Coaster and I say it again, it's not intrusive and doesn't have any impact on the game itself.
You can play offline and it allows for mod support, what Planet Coaster has in abundance.
