Waste of RL Time Really?

Yea well, each their own - whoever states they're "leaving" is most often just a troll seeking attention and a handkerchief.

I can agree with this, But are you guys not frustrated with the current state of the game at all?

I mean I get it, and yes I am still having fun I just want well more...

It's all right there, so close right in front of us but just can't quite touch it yet. I know some day I will be able to.

But as of right now we just can't and well for a lack of a better word it just sucks.

But I also see that the dev's have not given up and they are working hard pushing out weekly patches giving us updates on future content which is exactly what i see people requesting on the forums which is a Huge positive.

And another reason i am going to stay in it thick or thin.

Proof is in the game if you actually play. I play everyday. and have been for months, I love the game. But I step back and look at it in an overall view. It is my opinion that repeating the same exact missions over and over again gets very boring. Killing others ships and bounty hunting are getting boring also as they are now seeming to follow the exact same pattern of combat every time. Other cmdrs are the only other way to go now to get any kind of combat differential. I'm tired of seeing the same stations over and over. nothing changes in the game. the rep system is a sorry attempt at game progression. It really needs an overhaul as it doesn't even seem to work properly. again. all the things wrong to me and still I play. But others don't and will not. It really is an incomplete mess at the moment. I know it will never be complete because they will keep adding stuff. But I mean complete in a since of real gameplay. Yeah you can play for a month and love everything but once you actually hit that oh crap I am bored out of my mind now spot you'll see the same stuff. It is supposed to be a game that lasts years. I am harsh on it yess but only because I see to many and I would be one included new people that play for a week or two and just cant bare with the bugs and so little content in missions.

Have solid proof? No? Thought so.

I don't think there is any. I haven't seen Frontier release any player numbers. However, anecdotally I can tell you what it is like in my circle of friends at the moment. We started with a group of 10-15 players. But, now a month after the "full" release there are only 3 of us left. :( Everyone else stopped playing because of lack of group content. Playing single player side-by-side with other people isn't for everyone. However, I am certain quite a few people are going to give it another go once "Wings" are implemented. I don't think there is anything to worry about for the moment. Player numbers will naturally fluctuate until the game is actually "feature complete" (i.e. when the game enters the state of a classical beta version). For now, I just consider this game alpha and roll with it.

The glass is either half full or half empty; it's neither until you observe it and make a subjective judgment.

Or: If you think pessimistically you will be pessimistic; conversely optimism begets optimism.

It's all on you bro.

Frustrated? No. And I've been around long before Release. If something was completely dysfunctional, then I might be frustrated - but then again, I'd just file a ticket and do something else in the game while the broken aspect is fixed. ED by far isn't the first nor the only game I have (or currently am) alpha/beta tested - you get used to bugs and just shrug, file a ticket, and proceed.

Yep, it more or less is - guess that's what some gripe about the most. Personally, I don't care - I was in ED way before Release.

I agree, I don't have a problem with any of it, because I can appreciate the pace of development that FDEV has demonstrated over the last year. IF they keep iterating on the game at the same pace this year, then this game will be completely different by the end of 2015. And I am quite looking forward to that.

I think the largest issue here is the misaligned expectation people have because the game does not have the alpha/beta moniker any longer. So, people are judging the game on what should be expected from a full release. I understand that this had to be done for the sake of the share holders, but it is what hurts the game the most at the moment (along with absolutely abysmal customer service.) The game should not have been given a "full release" classification. It would have been a lot better to let it simmer in "gamma" for a while longer or call it early access or something. At least in terms of player morale. However, I don't have enough of an overview to appreciate what that would have meant for FDEV financially.

I am not going anywhere till I can pimp out a Anaconda. And since that will take awhile I am in for the long run. Picked up an x52 just so I could be immersed in it more.

When I'm bored with a game I typically don't take the time to tell the community about it. I just... stop playing.

I do understand why people vent on the forums. Clearly those people WANT to like the game but for one reason or the other end up frustrated. So they vent in hope that it may perhaps encourage some changes.
To be honest, I'd rather people take the time to give feedback, whether it is positive or negative, rather than to simply log off and move along. Some of the frustrations are indeed valid, and may not all be necessarily obvious to FDEV.

Well said.

Everyone vents; everyone turns drama llama now and then. Nothing like a good b**** on a forum, rite?

Problem is that venting is venting, whereas posting an "I quit" thread is more like a child throwing a tanty expecting attention and then getting even more frothy and upset because of.. well, the tanty. It's a vicious cycle of high emotions and PEBKAC.

But nice posts, very well reasoned and written.

Well said, indeed! They key is to actually give feedback, e.g. "The game has plenty of breadth, I'm looking for some depth. Going to find it elsewhere." My post was aimed a bit more to counter the "ED is losing players, based on 'I quit' forum posts". Making a count of those posts I believe is fruitless. But, Nikita, I completely agree with you that taking the time to explain what you don't like is extremely useful.
