Waypoint Navigation System?

So, we all know about the current nav system for plotting jump routes, etc...

Are there any current plans to add a waypoint system for local navigation, so we can more granular plot routes- such as local stops, etc.? [???]

I'm not really a huge fan of EVE but one thing they definitely did right was the ability to plan out a route and modify it as needed, including stopping at local stations and changing it up as you wish. Would be nice to see a similar system added in so that we're not always having to open the System Map every stop and choose a new location.

I thought I'd read something at one point about that being something they're looking to add. I couldn't tell you where or when though.

The one encouraging thing is that FDev seem to be constantly working on the galaxy map (sometimes to detrimental effect), so it *does* seem plausible that they might implement waypoints as a feature at some point in time. As to when, that's the hard part. It would not surprise me if we saw it as a minor 2.4 update; and it would equally not surprise me if we did not see it until 2019 or later.

See all previous threads requiring us to use astrolabes, and knotted ropes, or the game is "easy mode" for your answer. :(

Not really sure what you mean here by "easy mode", it's not as if I'm requesting an autopilot for all the waypoints in a route- but rather just a charted course to follow instead of the simple "point A to point B" we have currently, for which needs to be changed again as soon as you hit your destination.

A simple course plot that ticks of destinations as soon as you arrive- so you can plan out routes accordingly for multiple destinations, you know- so when you have umpteen missions in 10 different systems you can make it more efficient?

Definitely not looking for easy-mode. Just the ability to plot my own course rather than have one automatically generated for me. I want to choose waypoints that interest me. Waypoints that could be systems, in system objects or even on planet.

At the moment I must write things down, use a third party tool or just remeber them. All rubbish. I don't mind using lat/long & compass for navigation on planet but if that is going to work I need to be able to retrieve coordinates from the planet chart.

I would love to see a planetary lat/long nav system. I think it would be very helpful to just plug in a lat/long while at a planet so I can find where I am going. Also, adding lat/long display to the planet surface map.

Our navigation system seems a little primitive considering we can travel more then 10,000x the speed of light. We need these upgrades.

There is a latitude, longitude & compass readout already on your SRV HUD. The only bit that is missing is being able to retrieve & enter coordinates from the surface chart which makes them almost pointless. The same is true of the Galactic Chart.
