Waypoint Navigation

Hi there. Been playing this great game for a few days, and decided to do a delivery mission that was quite a bit away from where I was.

I might be missing something, but is there any way to set up "waypoints" when jumping from system to system?

I was kind of a pain to have to go to my galaxy map, select my final destination, look and see where my next jump was, lock that, jump to it, go back to my map, select my final destination again, find the next location to jump to, lock that, jump to it...well you get the point.

Is there a better way to do this?

Unfortunately not yet but there have been a lot of requests for this so I think it will get added. My preferred mechanic would be to select my destination in the galaxy map and have it automatically select the first system for the jump and as I enter that system it would automatically select the next one so I can just keep jumping and not worry about setting the destination systems.

The galaxy map got a fairly major overhaul in beta 3 as before that it only showed the exists from the selected system but now it displays the full routes you could take based on your mass and fuel. I suspect this is the first part of proper waypoint functionality.

Yeah, coming from an Eve background, that's exactly what I was thinking. Well it's good to know that a better navigation system might be in the works. : )

Click the star with mouse or if using gamepad hover over the selector for the star on your current planar position and hit x or a...something

I'd really like waypoints now please, I was running out of paper last night. I have been training speech recognition on my PC so maybe give that a go, but an actual nav computer that will remember the most efficient or fastest route (as per the radio buttons in Nav) would now be welcome in my cockpit please.
