Ways to escape in a T9

Do NPCs not snipe? I ask as I do not know. I had the 7C Bi-Weave and some armor add ons. I can go back to it. How much does the extra weight affect the already bad turning?

NPCs used to snipe when 2.1 went live but that was patched out quickly. At that time I got killed multiple times with 85% hull left. These days I lose weapons when hit by missiles but I never lose thrusters, powerplant or FSD when attacked by NPCs. I did get a FSD malfunction when attacked by player iCourier, but fortunately that was when leaving a station so I just landed again and repaired. I still had around 50% hull left and thrusters were working fine.

As to the other question, there is no extra weight compared to a shield build. In fact, two small HRPs only weigh 16 tons and provide more than 500 extra armor + resistance when modded. PDTs are lighter and use less power than shield boosters, and I can run a smaller powerplant.

These are some of the overall stats of my modded T9:
0 shields, over 1300 armor
boost speed around 260 empty and 240 loaded, top speed without boost is around 150-160; this is with G5 clean drives
jump range around 26 Ly empty and 19 Ly loaded (512 tons of cargo)

Bare hull flyer here: bought a T9 to haul coffee big time in memory of Walter in the recent CG (and because honestly, I always wanted one). Made all the way to the top 10% in open, I saw the rebuy screen three times (two due to players, one from an overly enthusiast npc), for a projected loss of about 14.700.000 cr over more than 40 millions of gross income.
Didn't count how many times I got interdicted over those ~25 trucking roundtrips, but I'd say a 30-40% of the time is a good estimate, so all in all the instances were the rebuy has been unavoidable have been relatively far and few in between.

I'm probably wrong about this, but I've grown my opinion that no matter the shield or the hrp, unless devoting most of the cargo space to defense systems if you happen to cross the path of the wrong offender, you're pretty much screwed anyway in that behemoth coffin (every rebuy happened because of ships that could dispatch me far before the FSD could spool up for high wake). But I absolutely love it this way, it's a good training to learn to fly SC with eyes on the back...NPCs most of the time give them away easily by their comms, if the target shows a python, annie, fdl or federal it's better to immediately slow down to normal space and high wake ahead of troubles...if I can't manage this and things go south, well, poop happens, it's on me to be careful when I move around a ship made for high income endeavours...you don't see those superfreighters crossing the oceans on a half empty hold, they get filled of containers as much as allowed because they are expensive, slow and exposed to the hazards of the sea (and pirates, actually [where is it]), and the profit they net must justify the risks and costs of moving them.

With all that said, I just parked it and bought another favourite of many...long live the Keelback, underdogging my way to the top. :p
