We asked for a default docking computer in every ship and Frontier gave us even more.

I bet there may be still more threads begging for the docking computer built in by default in every ship and not using a slot.
But if you think about it, Frontier has gone a step further... they gave us not only a DC in every ship, they made ist possible do take it out to gain an additional slot.

That's a premium move... thank you guys.

It means that the small ships I really like to play around with gain an extra 2 slots today, and even my bigger ships have an extra size 1, a bonus all round as the DC in my T10 gets a size 1 slot, freeing up a bigger one for something else useful. Win/Win whichever way it is approached

My DW2 CMDR may have to find his way back sooner than anticipated to put something useful in the new slot (he certainly doesn't want to waste such a valuable gift on a docking computer that he'll never use...)

Giving us an extra slot instead of making it a built in module was a very nice move indeed.
