We did it! A successful trip to Beagle Point and back without owning a ship and a pilot's license!

Greetings fellow CMDRs!

What the title of this post says.

For some time, I wanted to publish the news of an achievement of CMDR Rick Floss and myself. Managed to spare some time to finish the last details and publish the news.

This was CMDR Rick Floss's idea. I was asked if I would like to participate to which my answer was immediately yes. With the two of us and our alt accounts, we started with ideas and flight plans on how to successfully execute this trip and have a careful approach to it. In the end, it was well worth it and were the first to make it happen, at least, officially. I personally haven't noticed anyone posting or mentioning something like this being done. If it was, then my mistake. I wanted to get the news out of our achievement.

The trip included one of my alt accounts by the name of CMDR Kolnis, a fresh Odyssey account with no owned ships and/or a pilot license to begin with. I made sure not to launch the game in Horizons because that would be instant game over of our trip and would be all for nothing. In this situation, we wanted to see if it was possible to get a CMDR in this state, from one part of the galaxy to another, using the current game mechanics and all we could think of. As you will see in the entry linked to Inara down below, we managed to pull it off.

What appeared to be a slight issue was the "Included ship" when the CMDR Kolnis was created - It troubled Rick and me for a moment, but was soon disregarded.

The "included ship" is probably the loaned Sidewinder, but in the screenshot above, I have to enter the tutorial and complete it in order to claim the Sidewinder. Before that was an introduction to Odyssey on-foot introduction adventure in system BD-02 5286. So basically, I own no ships and don't own a pilot's license. As a CMDR with no pilot's license and a ship, you can't access a shipyard whatsoever. You enter the black screen for a split second and get kicked back to your character (this was on the FC shipyard). The only ships that we used were of our different accounts as taxi from one FC to another via wing and that was it. I wish Apex Interstellar was capable of this.

All of the details and screenshots of the entire trip were described in my logbook on Inara. I wanted to post it here, but I'm limited to 20 images in a post. At the very end I started to lose a bit of interest in taking screenshots, hence why there's not much to see at the end. Apologies.

CMDR Kolnis is currently on his way back from Colonia to The Bubble where V4KY is waiting and will be acting as taxi to a nearby starport. Then the trip will officially be done.

Feel free to ask any questions.

o7 to all CMDRs. This game is something really unique. Glad to be a part of it.

P.S.

If you're using Reddit and browsing r/EliteDangerous, pretty sure you saw the exact same post. I just copy-pasted it. :)

That FCs would invalidate the value of individual ships for exploration.

Unless "exploration" is considered going from A to B, without using an individual ship which he didn't have he could not really explore anything, even doing the only thing he would be able to do (Collecting Vista Genomics samples) would be only possible by either having a personal ship or using someone else's ship.
This without considering that a CMDR without a personal ship is not even able to buy a carrier (there is no option to buy one on foot, even if he had enough credits).
Ironically Apex Taxi allows more individual exploration activity to a foot CMDR than an FC.

I am happy to report that CMDR Kolnis reached The Bubble and is on station with CMDR V4KY (although that was a few days ago, bit late with news).

The trip is now complete.
