We had the "Bintuwrong", i'm afraid to have the "Mehrkat"...

I mean, look at these comparisons below : black around eyes is not dark enough, the eyes should be closer together, bigger and are not front enough (they go a little to the sides), the ears are not protruding enough, the neck is too straight, the head looks to small compared to the body...

But for me, the main flaw of this model is on the eyes. So we are close to a great model but right now, it's far from perfect. Look at this GIF ! I think it's revelant : https://gyazo.com/88c9505b3aa7c96b3b6e700701357f52

To be honest, I'm a bit afraid. What do you think ?

Umm... I see what you're saying, but I think it's a stretch. A stretch to compare it to the Binturong flaws. I never noticed it at first and to be honest it's not a big deal for me. The Binturong on the other hand, yeah that had to be changed. I did think they looked a little dark at first, but maybe that's just their color variation. I'm scared/excited to see what the devs have done with the digging/tunneling. Hopefully we will learn more about that tomorrow in a dev log!

I'm happy if my opinion is not too shared ! Indeed, nothing compared with the Binturong disaster, it's why I just called it "Meeeh"rkat, because I'm just not totally convinced.

Maybe there will be some variation on the black fur around the eyes? On the cover art meerkat you shared it has not very dark fur around the eyes, but there is another meerkat under it on the picture and it looks it has much darker fur around the eyes.

In reality binturong was ok but with bad textures, this why they changed him so fast. His model got unchanged.
They did change the facial structure a bit, but the biggest improvements were in the ears and texture, yes. They changed it fast because this place blew up at them (and then some CM's left us...).

If you're suggesting Chante and Jay left because of the binturong blow up, stop it. Chante announced she was leaving several weeks before the SEA pack came out, and before the binturong was released. She and Jay went to the same company Bo went to, which I highly doubt is a coincidence. I can confidently say neither of them left because of that incident.

I'm not suggesting anything, but I also think managing this community must be utterly exhausting at times and that the binturong incident is a good example of that.

I guess I don't get why you felt the need to include that second part then, but whatever, ndb.
Because the last thing I want to see is another outrageous blow up over something that isn't such a big deal. You might argue that the blow up led to results, but IMO the same result could have been achieved without such a fiasco. So far there's no sign of such a blow up regarding the Africa Pack animals, true, but even so, none of the animals are ever going to be exactly perfect, whether it's in the way they look, their animations, or anything else.

Anyway, you and I agree regarding this topic.

I too highly doubt the binturong debacle caused anyone to leave frontier it’s just a part of life nothing more nothing less. As a matter of fact Chante has congratulated frontiers PZ team on their latest update and pack and still seems to have a very good relationship with the company.

I see where you are comming from and I get your arguments here. However, for me it's in no way compareable with the Bintuwrong. Gosh, that model was... bad. Really, really bad. I wouldn't have recogniozed it, if it wasn't written down what it was.

The meerkat, however, is easily recongnizable to me. A bit too stylized maybe, like some base game animals as well, but it's more of an art choce than a biological faux pax.
All in all, I'm afraid we have to draw a line between "really extreme mistakes that needs to be fixed" and "not perfect". As you know, I'm not happy with the fennec and the rhino, but none of it is worth the same uproar the Bintuwrong rightful received.
