We have guns and rifles but nothing I have seen yet that I'd call a sniper rifle. Maybe not in the starter areas yet? will see

I am getting more upset every time I go to a wreck to be attacked by anywhere from 4 to 6 striker solders. They attack together as one, run towards you and attack by flanking you. with level 1 equipment its nearly suicide and they throw WAY too many grenades when they get close to you. I would really, really like a rifle that reaches out there and does some heavy damage so that even a level 1 player get a chance to finish a few of these missions, without losing everything you earned already in fines.

A railgun could fit the sniper style (if there was one). Plasma projectiles are too slow to be effective snipers.

Also need a portable beam laser.... and a LMG.

Actually, a "Heavy weapon" slot could have been quite cool as the Dominator's unique "tool".

Could have been quite interesting and give it more uniqueness than just carrying 2 standard primaries...

Especially on the night side of planets without night view enhancement it seems to be hard to get through.

well people keep saying just get better equipment. but I've just been back in the game about two weeks, and gathering everything you need for an upgrade doesn't happen overnight, and my one reason to go out looking was salvage missions and they aren't at my base right now. so unless I do about 6 missions without getting killed, that much cash is out of the question for the moment. and I tried using a SRV gun on wrecks where soldiers were guarding...killed one in three missions...ya my hand to eye is a bit slower than yours...lol

SRV tend to be destroyed by handheld guns. But yeah, we could get an Railguns and an LMG. Man, i can concept that stuff in no time...

Mantichore Executioner is perfect sniper rifle which needs some skills and patience. It allows quite well dominate battlefield or clean settlement with long range shots. All it's about learn how to use strong abilities of this weapon. Use jump and obstacles to stay out of sight of aggro npcs for some time, then turn back and engage on your terms. It works really well, is only needed accept a fact that you are not invincible like in engineered vette :) ... and for SRV: learn drive it in turret mode, it's really strong and mobile weapon platform in on-foot engagement.

I would love a rail sniper rifle, however the plasma sniper is deadly at a long distance if your target is shieldless, one shot one kill and still with a G1 rifle.

however, if not engineered, after you kill the first enemy, the entire base know that you are a threat. So the problem itself is not just the sniper itself, but everything. Plasma Sniper(?), speed of projectile, noise, bounty. This Sniper doesn't seems to suparse like 100m/s

This statement isn't correct. NPCs needs to see/hear you shooting or see dead body and use radio to rise settlement alarms. If you shoot from distance, there's not much noise which can be heard outside of buildings. And even then they stops pursuing you if you keep yourself some time (30 seconds) out of sight.

Personally I hope there will be at some future time added possibility to move bodies and really operate as stealth assassin. There's much what can be on foot improved, but for start it's good and I had allot fun while doing onfoot operations and learning how things works.

I've gotten a string of missions where I'm naughty. Them being green seems to help (yes, they like me and killing them sometimes seems to not matter...). But even if nobody sees you, you still get a bounty, which is dumb.

But if the alarm is off, they're remarkably bad at coordinating. I pop a couple when I have to rush the power room, and the rest of the base is fine. Pistol kills seem to make minimal noise, doesn't usually pull anyone outside of a big room.

Just as long as I penetrate the alarm room FIRST, everything seems to go fine. An e-breach from a SRV left close to a door gets you into the building with minimal chance of scan, and if it's not restricted, you have unlimited time to find someone with access inside and be sneaky, then you rush the alarm and once it's down, "covert" missions become massacre missions.

I think maybe I won't take non-lethal missions.

Edit> The silliest thing is, I've gotten interdicted by something juicy on my way to a facility. So, I can get a ship bounty, auto-dock on their pad, turn in the bounty for money and rep, then... proceed to murder a bunch of people. This and picking missions based on type (covert_heist and covert_theft) and material reward for data that's almost impossible to get, has resulted in green massacre targets. Well, green before they go red.

There are assassination missions where you are ordered to kill only (and only) target and then leave. These missions are quite fun and may be difficult if is target inside of some building with sec access :). And there are also infitration missions with stealing data .... that may really need some engineering modifications. Much harder as simple killing everyone who is moving.
