We meet again my old friend...

Do you think there should be a safe zone, say everate, lhs 3447, etc, that somehow has a no fire policy or something like that?

Or players that have a harmless combat rank can't shoot, or be shot at by other CMDR's?

That way new players can experience open with no fear of getting killed until they are comfortable with the game.

I personally think that would be a little counter productive, if you die when you're in a sidewinder you don't lose much, and if it was me I would much rather learn any lessons I need to learn early on and only lose a little rather than later and lose a lot more. Until you make your first hyperspace jump you're locked to solo anyway, I've also seen a harmless ranked player in an imperial cutter.
That said I wouldn't mind if they did put some kind of cordon around the noobs, whatever that may be, as long as it was locked to game time rather than ranking as that can't be seen, (if you lock it to harmless it will just mean that you get ganked as soon as you're mostly harmless) but as it stands protecting the noobs is a good way to practice PVP while also performing a public service, in fact there's a whole player group that does that most of the time, I fly around in Eravate on occasion looking for wanted players that are killing noobs, most of the time in small cheap ships, often I die, sometimes I don't, it's no less fun whichever way it goes, and even if I die, that's time the noob killer has wasted on me instead of the noobs.

As far as I'm concerned even the gankers and noob killers have a place in the game, every game needs a challenge, even if the challenge is avoiding them, one of the things that I really like about Alien Isolation is that if you see the alien early on you're only option is to run and hide, you don't stand a chance in a fight, and that really gets the pulse racing, and in Alien Isolation you don't get to switch modes to turn the alien off.

I might give Everate a try then. Sounds like fun. Noobs need protection from these crazy murderer's!

It would be good practice too.

Make sure you have plenty of rebuys, some of them are pretty good, and a lot of those that aren't are in wings, also watch for Adles Armada while you're there, they might pull you out of supercruise to make sure you're not killing noobs, they shouldn't kill you if you're not wanted and don't attack them, couple of the ones I've met were happy to fight for the sake of it though, some of them are pretty good as well, definitely better than me anyway!
