We need a shielded docking computer mod

Are docking computers stackable? Also, Focused Docking Computer please.

Absolutely, and they'll be available in all sizes and classes to suit your needs. They'll even go in military compartments. The focused mod will hugely increase their mass though, so watch out for that.

I feel like I've been enjoying this thread slightly too much.

Lmao, I jumped in here with my feet propped up and a bag of popcorn...then saw it was a joke. Nice job OP!
A little rep heading your way sir! This made me laugh.

Well, you say that and coriolis seems to believe you can fit more than one; I sprung my XBONE account out of mothballs last night and being the casual I am, decided to embrace the scrub lifestyle, reset save, turn FA back on and use a docking computer from the comfort of the couch. So, so dirty, JB. Just filthy.

I reckon if I fit like 3 to my new trade ship, it'd dock 3x as fast, right? Maybe I could engineer those bad boys to be long range and wide arc to maximise my docking immersion.

Please don't do that, stacking docking computers could lead them to network and form an AI, which will end up going Skynet on everyone.

(Although a ship using so many slots for docking computers probably won't be able to enslave humanity with how fragile it would be)

You know, I am okay with testing this hypothesis. Also I think we need more docking module classes; E is cheap but will forever fly you into the sides of things, D is lightest of course, C is.. well no-one understands why C's even exist, B is twice as heavy for no actual benefit because lul piercing weapons, and A is very expensive and thus the best.

Right?

Great new mods:

  • Overcharged docking computer: docks you faster, but you run a chance of the DC crashing you into things. Oh, wait....
  • Skimmer-projectile modification for huge cannons: lets you shoot skimmers at your enemies, leading to instant death
  • Beige Plague modification for multi-cannons: instantly colors your enemy beige, who will self-destruct in dismay
  • High ammo capacity mod for Point Defense - come on, it only has 10,000 shots (yeah, I know this exists)
  • Beige Plague modification for passenger cabin interiors: passengers will be too distressed to notice scans or make demands

Stopped reading at "turned FA back on." Too filthy for me, kofeyh. Too filthy for me.

I know. It was so bad. I was ashamed. But I kept going anyway. I can see why people do that, it's like the game actually plays itself. It's amazing. I had no idea. But still.

3x docking computers? Hold my beer.

Overcharged ship lights. Crafty power distributor hack that re-routes 25% of the power from your weapons, systems and engines and uses it to significantly increase the brightness of your ship's headlights allowing you to see as much as fifteen feet in front of you with a good roll.

Note - this mod is not available for the Python.

I prefer long range lights myself. I can see the hill over there but its pitch black at the ship.

Overcharged, yes.

Maybe it could dock you more quickly.

Apparently the new DC coming in 2.4 can dock really quickly! Sarah Jane Avory (MoM) did some tests with a 1200m/s Courier and the new DC handled it fine! Also, landed the ship on a 9.2G planet.

I think it will likely need a Max Retroburn Mod using Thargoid Tech after 2.4 ...

Edit - not quite what the OP was looking for in this thread but I hope its useful info anyway :)
