We need a Soviet Union/Communism decal

Glorious soviet decals for glorious soviet ships

The problem with that is the lack of socialist or communist major factions to attach it to. And minor factions don't get their own logo.

Look at what we have now...

The Imperials are 19th Century British in spaceships, hammed up more than a pantomime.
The Federation are your standard American Fascist Megacorps
The Alliance are... actually, I'm not sure anyone knows what they really are (LibDems maybe), not even themselves.

You'd need to get support for at least a PP faction.

Good luck getting it too, seriously... we do need a bigger range of space-politics in the game. It's a very capitalist universe out there right now.

It doesn't seem weird to me, since you can already get paint jobs of flags of a bunch of countries that won't exist in a thousand years either. Slippery slope though, eh? Eheheh.

This decal would not be possible without getting the game banned or scrutinized by authorities in several European countries. Soviet (and ) symbolism banned unless shown in historical or educational context.

34th century ought to have better symbols for the ideology by now.

Rightly so. My family was deported and suffered under that very symbol in the OP, so I find it disgusting. What next, a space national-socialist something?

In some star systems there is a of government system known as "Communism" - that in fact even better, as in the mode of "Socialism" we built nothing more than "Communism". The future is here, the dreams has come true.

What was built is a broken authoritarian system with untold human suffering - under that very symbol. Since no mod has shown up, I'll now report the OP.

That is the only way developers can create such games as this. They just take the paradigms of our world and extrapolate them to a bigger environment. A game is a game because it has challenges in it. For most people that just means capitalism, the rat race in which we all participate in a game of one-upmanship.

We compete for jobs and try to rise on a social status ladder by getting raises and move to better neighborhoods, into better houses and drive bigger cars, then use the to shop in more expensive supermarkets. And all that through and based on theories of open market capitalism.

It is sickening alright. But we lack the imagination to do it another way, hence we get space sims. All we do is play 'Capitalism In Space'. Since communism never truly existed on Earth apart from a few unknown episodes in human history where people attempted the thing, all we know is communist dictatorships.

It is easy enough to declare a planetary system a communist regime and then you can take your pick whatever that truly means. I do see that there is this notion among many Russians today to glorify the good old days. I know a Romanian who was barely alive when the Wall fell, who plays with the thought that it was all great. The reason he thinks it is because things were clearer then, in the way that when you have few choices and are told what, when and why to do it and keep your mouth shut, you do not truly have to think for yourself. And so you get a longing to a bad lifestyle because people quickly forget how bad it was. Maybe the OP is one of them.

Capitalism didn't 'win' at the end of the cold war and it is just a bankrupt climate destroying system as communism was. In any case, within ED, what would it actually mean in a universe of capitalism, e.g. for trade? Fixed prices all year through? And when some imported good gets relatively scarce, the communist leadership experiences civil unrest?

Or would you have worlds populated by some Hippy culture? :) And what would that do to a commodities market. Maybe most drugs would be legal because unfortunately people think that being a hippy is to be a stoner and associate drugs with all that. It is much more but how would you code that into the game as it is?

You can't code what you do not know, so if capitalism is all we know by lack of understanding what the world is for, why we are here at all and behave like dutiful cogs in the machine, what different system can you imagine?

Oh dear God no!!!
I mean very, very much no!

Look into the lore and read a bit about the Soviet Union.
There is nothing in common other than authoritarian rule.

Edit: i was trying to make a quote answer to a previous post but the mobile interface derps out the usability of the forum.
I should use a pc instead

I would probably pay to put swastikas on my ships. Ever heard of punk?

But of course the national socialist censors in some countries won't even allow swastikas in video games.
