Powerplay We need systems in place to discourage 5th Columning

Do you know what would solve absolutely everything? Give players merits depending on the CC income of prepares system. The more income, more merits. Bam.

The best system to prevent bad preparations. Final prep = current prep x radius income.

So a ship with a tiny cargo (20) can be more efficient than 5c with cutter.
20 x 50cc = 1000
700 x 1cc = 700.

Well, I see that Frontier wants some sort of preparation wars between members of the power and even some opposing from the inside. But nobody can argue against a system of positive motivation for doing the good things.

I think FDEV would support any conclusions that would reduce their workload. They don't even talk about it. I like to think it's because they don't have the manpower for the scope of their project instead of greed. Hell, we don't even have proper documentation about how the game works now.

I think you hit the nail squarely on the head. It seems that most of Frontier's time and resources are spent on adding new features, not fixing bugs.

While I'm not sure anybody has done an aggressive prep that actually has a negative profit (negative in-game; almost all are loss makers after overheads), this could theoretically hurt a power's ability to do offensive preps in another power's space. Which is a fun Power Play tactic and shouldn't be discouraged IMO.
Here is a thought. If you prep a system that has a negative, or will result in a negative CC, your cooldown for getting materials is locked at 24 hours.

People can still use prepping bad systems as part of 5C, if you are solo and don't know how the game works you now have incentive to figure out what you are doing, and it is not such a big change that it changes the entire functioning of solo/open or powerplay. A 24 hour cool down allows the actual progressive actions of the powerplay team to counter 5C however in a much more reasonable manner. If the progressive team is out maneuvered then it's realistic within the game.

To me, it is more immersive, in that a power would discourage such actions in its supporters, especially in such an overt manner as with this cycle and AD, instead of turning a blind eye to an obvious bad prep/expansion.

If we make it merit-wise, all the grinders will actually subconsciously help their power and then it would really be "Power vs. Spies/ 5th Column" and not "Power vs. 5th Column and people who have no idea what they're doing".

I fear FDEV is adding on to a weak foundation. Unless fixing what is here is part of the 10 year plan, but I don't think they are gonna make it at this rate because new features will add more bugs and exploits too.

Sadly this is the reason I am uninstalling for the time being. It's a shame because it seemed like such a cool feature when it was announced.
