It is well known that this suggestion forum is where suggestions go to die. My question is, ‘Why?’ How can a company expect to continue when they ignore so much of what their customers want? Sure Elite isn’t the only thing Frontier has, but it has the potential to be the greatest. If you look at a graph like this one (steam charts) we see that elite hit an all time high with Odyssey, and is now seems to be trying for an all time low.
Then there are posts like this one, most notably Horizon Beyonder’s comment on the 7th page. Here a simple immersion addition has been requested again and again and again and again, yet each time it has been ignored. Instead, they come out with a knew expansion, which not only hurts in the wallet (for penniless collage kids at least), but lasts all of two months before blowing up on takeoff.
FDev makes the game, sure, but we are the ones that play it. They may design it but we are the ones that use it. Every day thousands of CMDRs log on, and play. Even if all of FDev played 24/7, eating on the fly and crapping in a sock, they could not even come close to matching our man hours in gameplay. So why in the blazes will FDev not listen to us? Any intelligent individual can conclude that we know more about what the game needs then FDev does, simply because we play it more
Yet this forum remains a graveyard.
Now that I have blown off some steam, here is my suggestion to improve these forums.
Rather than having these forums being a giant free for all with dozens of posts every week, many of them duplicates, clear the forums and start fresh.
A team would review EVERY post before it became public. If the post was original enough, it would be posted for public review. If it was not original enough, it would be added as a comment onto the post it was close to, and the one who posted it would get a link to said post. If the post is thrown out for no good reason, well that’s what youtube and boycotting are good for. This would prevent the same posts (NPC crew visible on the bridge, open only, cobra IV, etc.) from being posted then lost to ether over and over and over… and over. Instead, one post could gain more and more attention until the… individuals in FDev could see that his is something the community REALLY wants. And if the post was highly controversial coughs ‘open only’, FDev could see that to.
Either way, it would streamline this forum into something better.
