PvP Weapon loadout for Mamba?

Hey all,

Currently fitting out a Mamba as a potential pvp ship. All done with utilities, core, and optional core slots, and I am about to tackle weapons.

I am curious as to what people have been using. I have heard convergeance is an issue.

Side question:

Given the Mamba's speed, I take it that biweaves would be optimal? I have prismatics and the boosters to support a biweave or prismatic setup.

Also, before anyone suggests a FDL or krait variant, I already have both. :)

Thank you in advance.

The default for most of the comunity seems to be f(r)ag cannons and gimbal multi.

It's basically a clipper, which is why all the ow ex clipper pilots are in them.

With that awful convergence almost forcing gimbal use, it's another poop tier ship imo though.

I like the mamba. I use the obligatory MC in the huge HP and a gimbal frag on one side and a pacifier on the other side. Mine is a prismatic shield tank.

I was leaning towards frag cannons but was unsure of what to put in the huge slot. Might go with a focused or efficient PA.

Anyone know if the Mamba's distributor could handle an overcharged PA?

It's almost like, and I know this is wild but hear me out, it's almost like they were playing to the ship's strength. Wild, right?

Yes, you're correct. I mean, he only got me below 70% hull after about 5 minutes, at which point when I realized he wasn't going to let me anywhere near him, I just low waked out. I said annoying because it's obvious he's unlikely to ever kill anyone that doesn't want to be killed. but it just seems like an extremely boring playstyle, even if as you pointed out, it's the right way to fly it.

I've won duels in the mamba (vs decent pilots) and that's not the way I fly it. But if the above scenario wasn't an arranged duel and instead he was anonymously pulled for kicks and giggles, then this tactic is just deserts vs that griefer.

The thing is he's the one that pulled me in. My Krait MK II couldn't keep pace with him. He was just hovering between 3 to 4K distance and taking potshots here and there. I gave up trying to catch him after 5 minutes or so. Anyway, not a big deal, just thought it was a waste of time.

Agreed. Perfectly justified situation to release the hounds if you have them or just wake out.

Hmmm. How do you not keep pace with a mamba in a mk2?

I ended up going overcharged frags with the usual special effects. Been testing various weapons for the huge slot. So far I have tested a PA and a fixed beam. Not really happy with either though.

That's a lot of dist draw and power requirements, hence why I go with the overcharge MC (Autoload) in the huge HP.
