Weapons are getting a major overhaul with the new loot system!

People are going to be flipping their lids for months after this is introduced. Change one thing about interdictions and people lose their mind for weeks..... I can't wait to see what happens when FD changes 15-20 weapons overnight.

If you are referring to excrement from a steer, I wholeheartedly agree. There is already enough of it in BB and finding rarer discounted weapons/modules before hitting elite.

If this turns into raiding the same moonbase for the 1000th time Destiny-like grinding I am off the play something else. We've already seen the types of time they expect their players to invest with the major faction ranking nerf...

Basically, you can have two of the same weapon with a wider range of stats. It basically means you have to be extremely lucky to have a good weapon, unless you specifically purchase a good one.

Agree Elite better not pull that crap. Honestly don't know why other games do it.

I do have a pacific vision of what I want Elite loot and craft system to be and I suspect what ever Frontier produces will disappoint me at least in the initial version.
This is there chance to make a whole host of stuff useful in the game, to make scientific outposts useful.

FOR REAL I'm so hyped about crafting and looting. Warhammer 40k-esque Elite: Dangerous MUST be a thing. IT MUST.
 
weapons in 1.4 are rather poorly balanced... Here's to hoping the "loot/crafting" system will be more than just a variable generic scale of bonuses that can be applied equally to all weapons. Modifications to the base stats of many weapons are sorely needed.
 
Honestly, I see this as being able to modify existing vanilla weapons with crafted "modules" that bring them to the standard of the Powerplay weapons, but the player determines stats. So, cytoscrambler burst lasers in C3 and on gimbals, with original range retained, for example. Retribution Heat laser still having basic thermal damage, and some heat dumping ability. And things like the rapid cannon from CQC as a modified cannon.

Exactly how I see it. PP weapons/shields are basically already crafted items with a very limited scope. The actual crafting will allow us to have better versatility. The devs already stated they never intended the PP items to replace anything, just be a different alternative. Crafting is just going to even the playing field and make that a better reality than it is now.

I'm looking forward to it to be honest.
 
Personally hoping for Missiles to recover some of their former glory, and to be able to craft even half the capability of the Packhound missile launcher, because rule of cool. Also, C4 Advanced accelerator.

Except the regular weapons are superior to most of their PP variants...
