Ships Weapons for Type 8?

I went with all seeker missiles oversized rapid firing (just nips multiservos) except the size 2 which i opted for a gimballed oversized over charged beam to strip the shields. Works well as the missiles don't use much distro leaving the imba beam to do it's work quickly. Once that shields down the missiles can snipe the thrusters. If the enemy has point defence then snipe that first. You'll know after the 1st volley. And yes all missiles on one trigger. Beam on the other.
Very effective against npc pirates. But frowned upon by pvpers as its a bit Op

Even before the over abundance of g5 mats I wouldn't have wasted my time for such a small return.
Dedicated combat ship and haz res or stacked assassination missions resulted in more mats / hr.
The only thing that would make me attack them is if the npc was named after someone I know in RL, so I screenshot it and gloat I killed them :D
I did A LOT of loop trading for CGs and especially Operation Ida's starport repairs in the days.
Believe me, every enemy Conda interdicting me was a gift from heaven :ROFLMAO:

Personally I've never understood why people add offensive weapons to a trade ship...it's just so much quicker, and profitable, to wake out of there and continue on your trading route than killing the NPCs that interdict you. The many minutes wasted killing the NPCs is simply not worth it for the tiny bounty you get from them...and as to defend yourself against a PvP Cmdr, no, just no, you will die.
Because running from harmless eagles and sideys is miserable. Interdict me and they're stareing down the barrels of as much firepower as I can mount.

The NPCs that interdict you scale with the size of your ship and your own rank, so a T8 won't be interdicted by harmless Eagles and Sidewinders. It's going to be Pythons and Clippers of similar rank to you.

Depends on context; the random pirates tend to be fairly low rank, mission spawned opponents will be Dangerous or higher.
Besides, I did the unarmed, unshielded thing back when I was still using a T6. Never again.

I'm pretty certain that's not true. I have an account I use for making training videos for beginners, so I've done about 30 restarts and much ranking up. What I see is consistent with what I said.

I've been trading in the Bubble for... over half a decade...
Suddenly I feel old...

Your experience is just different from his. Just accept it.

Actually my experience is similar to his come to think of it. And yes, I arm all my freighters. To the teeth 😁
OK, name me a situation when a harmless eagle would interdict a Type 8, and I'll test it for you and make a video with the evidence.

Have you done it for 19,000 hrs, like I have?
You actually want to go down that route? OK;

The answer is yes and more.

OK, I have four accounts too. The 1900 hrs is just in the main one. Anyway, As I said above, can you name one situation where you think a harmless eagle will interdict a Type 8, and I'll test it for you and show you what happens?

I have had random pirate interdictions of a wing comprised of Harmless/Mostly Harmless pirates while I was in a Corvette without cargo (working to engineer it) and had already reached some high-ish combat rank.

It happens rarely but there is a possibility. It was also the last mistake they made.

And why would a trader stop to shoot NPC pirates? Simple. Not efficiency or “maximum profit margins”, but fun. Occasionally getting to shoot back at those pesky troublemakers is a very welcome break from hauling… but usually I do just ignore them. It’s not as if they’re much of a threat if I am in my Cutter with a C6 prismo shield.

Hi all,

Here is the weapons setup for my T8 ... 2 longrange Cytos, 3 x short range Enforcers and a pack hound:

EDSY - CHEDDAR

The ship replaced my old python and works quite nicely as a general mission runner, transport, a bit of salvage etc. Its nice to be able to use all those power play weapons that I spent ages collecting all those years ago, and it seems to be effective in using them as well (the backhound is for nailing small and nimble stuff like eagles).

A good and fun ship to pootle about in :)

C.
