Weapons Overheating

I've seem to be encountering an issue now with my Corvette. Where the weapons are causing my heat gauge to go up much faster now. Especially now that I'm using Beam lasers and Guardian Guass cannons. And it's causing Lots of damage to my modules.

Is there anyway to keep this from happening?

Would having POWER PLANT - LOW EMISSIONS (GRADE 5) work? It says Heat Efficiency -65%. So would that Keep weapons from causing thermal damage?

It'd help but the main issue is your using Guardian Guass cannons, IE one of the hotest weapons in the game.

try going efficient grade 5 on the beams and go for thermal spread on the plant. Also, avoid trying to fire all guns at the same time if you don't want to overheat.

Look into getting Thermal Vent on your Beam Lasers. It’s an experimental effect that lowers your heat if you hit your target.

Heat sinks are another good tool to have in case the heat gets away from you unexpectedly.

So I went to put the low emissions power plant on and it can't be done. My Corvette needs the Overcharged power plant. >.<

How about using a Guardian Power Plant and Distributor? They Synergy effect is quite nice. I have at least one ship that produces at 104%, negating my need to Engineer.

Yeah kind of figures (runs cooler, gives you less power. Makes sense.) But have you tried the Thermal Vent beams?
And I kinda think they made the Guardian weapons hot on purpose because when you overheat, that also removes the effects of the Thargoid caustic missiles.

Aside from that: heatsinks. I'm no Thargoid-fighter, but have watched a lot of video's. Everybody seems to be running with heatsinks.

hint: don't do low emissions or overcharged. armored level 5 gives 12% more power and efficiency with the only penalty being extra weight.

You can also add the Monstered experimental for additional power.

That said, sounds like your build is super power hungry to begin with. Wouldn't be surprised if you had to go overcharged on the plant no matter what.

Very few rational loadouts actually need an overcharged power plant on the Corvette.

Mind posting yours so we can take a look?

There's something that keeps bothering me about weapons overheating in the first place.

The ambient temperature of space is pretty darn low for the most part.

The laws of thermodynamics still apply in space, even in regions where a medium is exceptionally low.

Heat flows from warm to cold.

Heat is lost by advection and radiation in space.

So why is it our external modules (weapons) overheat so rapidly again? Other than being made of Gameium?

Radiation is a pretty poor method of losing heat, and with nothing to conduct the heat away it mostly kinda just sits on whatever is hot.
